He left on May 22nd. I think it is strange that they are about a week apart and they are in the same division and ship number. I hope I have the right address.
He left on the 22nd. I just got his PIR date last night and it is 7/20/12 I am so excited. No letters yet but the envelope was in his hand writing. Just seeing that meant the world to me. I was wishing for a letter but maybe this week.
How are you holding up?
Meegan - I am doing better - I got the form letter yesterday with the official PIR July 20th too! I was so excited to see little notes on the form letter, not much but "I'm fine, I miss you, I love you" sprinkled in the pages....hopefully that will hold me up until I get her first letter. Yes I think it's strange that they are a week apart but same division, the only thing I can think of is maybe your son's job is more detailed in processing and takes longer...what is his job? My daughter is gunners mate
Your daughter was actually one of the last to fill the division and is at the RTC for 7 1/2 weeks rather than the typical 8 1/2 weeks that Meagan's son will be there. Divisions 223 and 224 are most likely considered "push divisions" because they had to wait to begin training until they were filled and some will be there only 7 1/2 weeks. They will get in all of the training because training actually only takes about 6 weeks, so they have plenty of time.
Since you mentioned that your future Sailor is going to be a Gunner's Mate, you may want to join, or at least check out, GM Mom's, Great Lakes A School Q&A and GL A-school moms at some time between now and PIR.

:o)
My son is also with Ship 04 Div 223...I received his form letter on June 5th....we are in South Texas though, so I assume the mail probably took longer. I was so glad to finally get word from him. He even included a "Happy Face" and I Love Ya'll...he must be in good spirits :)
