My son left May 26th. So of course I have been waiting patiently for the "form letter". Which has not come. BUT we got a call!!! Apparently he is being assigned his ship tomorrow. Everything completely out of order from what we were expecting. But he loves it so far. I can finally breathe easier knowing he is in such positive spirits. Not all are that fortunate I guess.

That is good that you got a call. Did he tell you what division he will be in?

He said he didn't know yet?? Kind of confused me because I thought he should know by now. I guess I should wait for that letter. lol

Yep, you will have to wait on the form letter.

It is unusual to get a call during P-days, but since he has been in P-HOLD a while, that is probably why. There has got to be some reason for the extended time in P-days.

He did say they were past P days and actually had started training last Wednesday. That was what I was thinking that they had been put on hold for some reason. He passed the swim test and I am sure there is a lot more going on that he failed to mention but he was so excited to talk about everything that I'm sure he forgot quite a bit. He said he is a crossing guard because he is the tallest. Figures. Haha! He also said he would call again in about 2 weeks.

If he is out of P-Days, then he should have known his ship and division numbers and his PIR date is probably the 24th, but possibly the 31st, but that would be a bit strange for one arriving on a Tuesday to have 10 Fridays.

Check with the recruiter and get the address and double check it against those in http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp or Ship/Division--How it Works.

I only say that since it has been more than 2 weeks.

I will call her tomorrow and see if she knows anything. He did say his PIR is 7/24. My husband spoke to him so I am wondering if he just didn't ask him or my son didn't offer it up.

That is great that he is a Road Guard. If there are pics of recruits marching on fB (https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand), you can look for a recruit with an orange vest.

I was kind of excited for this for that reason. Hoping to catch a glimpse. :)

:o)

It's great that he is doing well and enjoying it! Hearing a kid's happy voice is a balm for the heart of a worried mom. :)
