For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Boot Camp is a rough time. It is very hard not to have our Kids home for the Holidays. We Navy Moms Understand that more then anyone. I am sure your Son is fine. If his company isn't performing as whole they probably not getting privileges of phone calls or the time to write. Remember, no news is good news. If there was any wrong you would have gotten a call. Just keep writing. That means so much to them. (BIG NAVY MOM HUG!)

Keep the cards and letters coming. Our son is not a talker or letter writer, but the few times we have talked to him he has said how much the letters mean and how encouraged he is after them.
Also some of the Rdc's take away their free time for writing as punishmennt. That has happened a lot with our son.

the previous replies are right on target. Keep writing and remember no news is good news. My sailor is not much a writer either and was in a division that only got to call a couple of times. My son is now A school and still has all the letters I set to him. They were lifeline for him. Keep them positive (no matter how you), encourage them to stay strong. The end is so worth it. (((NMH)))

Wow...when did your son ship? My girl shipped on 11/14. I was hoping to have a letter from her soon, but it sounds like your son has been there a lot longer than my girl, and if you haven't heard anything yet, I think I should be worried!

When my son was in boot camp I didn't get a letter for four weeks, his div was punished a lot so I only had the three week call and the I'm a Sailor call, it all depends on their RDC. Again, No news is good news. Keep writing supportive positive letters, you are almost halfway there. It will all be worth it when you see your new Sailor at PIR. Hang in there Mom, we are all there with you. Big N4M Hugs!

It took us about 3 1/2 weeks to get a letter from him. Its difficult with them being gone over the holidays (mine is turning 18 in BC) so I understand the feelings of not having him here with us for those special days but...It will get better, I promise and you will hear from him sooner or later, just keep that phone by you :) I even took mine with me to the potty the first month :) It seemed to get easier for me last week and mine is only one week ahead of yours, PIR dec 21st. Try to stay strong for hm and just keep writing :)

I do get a letter every week, two phone calls, one I missed, the 28 is next week let just pray they will make it.

My daughter arrived in Chicago last night. How do I find out where to mail cards and letters? This will be her first time away for Christmas. Will she be able to call for Christmas?

You will get "the box" in a few days and the form letter with her address and PIR date a week or so later. With 6000-7000 recruits at the RTC, it is unlikely that every recruit will be able to call, but it is possible that the RDC could schedule a call because some will be able to call and yours may (or may not) be among those getting to call.

Since your recruit will be at the RTC for Christmas, his RDC may schedule a call, but it is more likely that you will not get a call. Remember there are a whole lot of Recruits at the RTC (generally 6000-7000 or more) and it would be very hard to give all of them even 5 minutes at the phone banks on one day. Some will be adopted out for Christmas (the 12/28/2012 and 01/04/2013 TG's), so that means there are 2 TG's less at the RTC on that day and those who are adopted usually do make calls while they are away from the RTC. Don't expect a call, but have your phone available and be pleasantly surprised if you do get one. Calls on holidays can come anytime between 8ish am to 8ish pm Central Time.
