We just got our first call from our SR! Ship 07/Div 162. He sounded GREAT! We are so encouraged, proud and happy for him. Did the whole division get calls today? How did you feel when you heard your SR's voice? I'm so happy I didn't cry while on the phone with him :) Ann-Marie

When did you SR go to boot camp, we kind of waited all day for a call, thinking maybe every sunday, I will be staying at home, just in case.  Glad he sounded well!  My son is ship 7 div 163 so maybe next week.  Have a good night

Congrats A-MJ's Mom - No call yet, but our PIR is 6/08. I am assuming yours is earlier?

Congrats MJ 's MOM~~ I am so pumped! I got my call too! Talked for almost 30 minutes. DIV 161

I got a call also! Oh happy day! It was so wonderful to hear his voice. He sounded good, homesick and at times emotional and said to write every day even if it is only hi! I am on a mission to make sure he gets lots of letters from everyone! So glad to read everyone to letters also. Bless all our loved ones.
Hi Nathosmom, Josh is in ship 7/div 162 and this was the first call since night one, 3/29/12. His PIR is on 5/25/12. He told us last night that he is in a push dvision, whatever that means! I think they go thru faster or something. I'm hopeful for other calls but understand we may only get the last one where he becomes a sailor! It looks like you should get a call this week since you are in the TG right after us, enjoy! BTW, my SR said some others in his unit could NOT make calls yesterday since they had watch duty. If you didn't get a call, remember "no news is good news! "

Thanks A-MJ's mom, our PIR is 6-1 so you are earlier, congrat's.  I was just reading about the push division, they do go through quicker.  How long was your phone call?  Did he have a calling card. as I am freaking out that our son does not have one.  I am so anxious about missing the call, do they only call on Sundays (is my thought) and what time (and where you from)

Hey again, unfortunately there are no rules! I heard other moms got calls midweek and some did not get one. I am grateful for what we got. He called late afternoon about 5pm EDT. We are in Mass. We had 30 minutes but let him go after 18 so he could call the GF. Didn't even KNOW he had a girlfriend before he left but we know her and like her very much! They do get some "down time " on Sundays but I don't think they are always able to call. I asked him to keep writing and he LOVED getting our letters. You can get free calling cards from this site callsforrecruits.org If you email them, they send you 6 calling card PIN numbers and each is good for 20 minutes. I just printed out the email from them and mailed it to Josh with the instructions. Worked fine! :) Ann-Marie

NavyMomz - Welcome.  My son arrived 4/11 in GL.  Got the Box, Form Letter, I have arrived safely.  That's it. Everyone says no news is good news, but it is getting harder and harder.  I did really well, but am now getting pretty anxious!  Hang in there and try to stay busy - It really helps.

My SR left on May 3rd.  I got the I am here and safe call.  Lasted about a minute.  He sounded tired but excited.  When do we get a call regarding PIR or is that come in the form letter after the "sailor in a box" without the sailor?
