While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I want to get my SR a nice sturdy watch as a graduation gift but I'm not too sure if there are any restrictions on what kinds of watches you can wear in the NAvy...
Anyone have any suggestions on good watches for Sailors? Or any watches that I should stay away from?

Waterproof. LOL No, seriously..my son got a watch in BC and I know they only allowed a certain type. I just called him because he is in A School now and he said any kind is okay..The only thing they can't have is something with a negitive message or offensive in nature.

To take a watch back to the bootcamp base, it can only be black...but once off RTC base they can have any that meet the reg's I posted below.

That is false that Gold is reserved for Officers. Not sure where you heard that, but please stop spreading that false rumor.
Below are the reg's for watches.
6. JEWELRY. Conservative
jewelry is authorized for all personnel and shall be in good taste while in
uniform. Eccentricities or faddishness are not permitted.
Jewelry shall not present a safety or FOD (Foreign Object Damage)
hazard. Jewelry shall be worn within the following
guidelines:e. Wristwatch/Bracelets. While
in uniform, only one of each may be worn. Ankle bracelets are not

Angie is correct, the watch can be black, gold, silver, etc. as long as it is in good taste and not faddish or eccentric. There are NO watch colors reserved for Officers.
This is the watch we got for my son for his high school graduation (he asked for a nice watch he could use in the Navy). He specifically wanted an automatic (swiss style) with mechanical movement. This is a really nice watch for the price.

A Casio G-Shock is a great watch. I purchased one for my youngest, who is in the Army, and plan to purchase one for my SR for his grad gift, as well. They are waterproof, take a beating, and keep on going. If you "Google" them, you will find many military servicemembers recommend them.

I just purchased a Casio G-Shock atomic analog/digital watch. It had great reviews online. It's also waterproof.

I gave my son a Seiko Kinetic watch for his 14th birthday he picked it out himself, now the watch is 8-1/2 years old and still works fine. It is Titanium Carbide Nitride plated black case and bracelet with gold trim. It is a dress watch with a rectangular face -- manly not geeky Lol. Sort of a classic watch style. That TiCN material is super durable it has never scratched yet. It costs a bit more than stainless but is well worth it in my opinion because the watch still looks new. The Kinetic watches cost more but never need a battery but if you put down the watch for up to 6 months it is still running. But even for a non Kinetic watch I still highly recommend paying a bit more for that TiCN plating on it.
I bought it from Princeton Watches online, they are an authorized Seiko dealer and have great prices and usually have free shipping.
