My daughter reported to Great Lakes 8/13 . I see some have received their boxes. I am patiently awaiting the arrival of last of my daughters civilian life ( at least for the next five years). I am excited but dreading it all the same because I feel like it will be saying goodbye all over again.  I am beyond proud of my daughter and so excited for the life she will have but I am going nuts with the unknown and its only been 2 1/2 days. Will I make it the next 56??  I am so looking forward to a letter and better yet hearing her voice.  I guess the one thing I have failed to learn my 39 years- I will now learn.  Patience.

My son left on 8-12-14 and I haven't received a call or a box. My heart has such an empty spot I am having anxiety issues.
Ours left on the 11th and we got the box today. Hang in there, it'll come :)

I am so sorry. This makes me sad. Why didnt you get your call?? I hope you get your box soon. Hang in there Mama. <3

Jennmobug - patience is the key, and you will be getting more of it every day. The first week it is really rough. You are a mom and you're used to having control and now you find yourself at the mercy of the Navy. The thing to keep telling yourself right now is she is being fed plenty, sleeping in a warm (if not comfortable) bed, having her medical needs tended to (if needed) and she is in the same boat - pun intended- with a whole group of young women sharing the same experience. They will bond with others quickly and lean on each other for support. As for you - we are here for you to lean on. Getting the box is your first milestone and for some it is tough and for others it is relief. When you get the letter, thats when things will start to fall into place for you. You'll have a "goal" that you can start working with and just that little bit of knowledge will give you back some control. After that it gets easier. Read up, research the ship she is on, educate yourself about as much of Navy life as you can. You'll get the hang of it in no time! ((HUGS))

Thank you. I am trying to read up and get as educated as I can. I felt a bit in denial so I am now immersing myself into everything NAVY. It seems a lot of people that have kids that left the same time mine did  have division numbers and ships.... I feel I am at a standstill until I get that info. I know it will come...Thank you for your kind words :)

Some with loved ones who arrived when your recruit did have gotten the address from the recruiter, something we do not advise this early. There are some who had recruits arrive on Monday who received the form letter today if they live close to the RTC.

You will make it thru. The days will flyby and then time will seem to stop.its very hard on us moms but we are very proud. I am not sure if our sons and daughters understand that we are having a tough time too. But I know when I see my son next Friday that it has all bee worth it I have only received 2 phone calls so far one said I am here. One was a 5 minute call and I am awaiting the I am a Saot call keep your fingers crossed

My fingers are crossed for you. I know my daughter is/was very worried about how I was going to handle everything. I promised her I would keep it together. I think I am doing a pretty decent job of it. I am just very anxious to hear from her. I am sure that when PIR finally arrives it will seem like the time has flown. Just taking it moment by moment :) WOOT WOOT!! You got one week left!! I am super excited for you!!!! :)))

Jennmobug....Oh my yes! Patience is something you will have the opportunity to learn now! Best way to make it through the next 56 days is once you find out her division and ship number, find the group on N4M and share with them.  I am still in touch with some of the moms in my son's division and that's almost 3 years ago.  A couple things I have learned about the Navy is; "hurry up and wait" and "the only constant is change".  I am one of those organized people who plans ahead....had to learn to be waaay more flexible ever since my son joined the Navy!

I agree with lemonelephant about the address from the recruiter. I had been given one from the recuiter and luckily I didn't use it, on advice from N4M admins.  It was NOT the right address!  I did have letters ready to go, though, so I popped them in the mail as soon as I had the address.
