Marienavymom4kk-- I'm so sorry that your daughter is dealing with this. This is why we suggest that you make sure your travel plans are changeable. Write her TONS!! This is one of the ONLY times I'll suggest using Sandboxx just so you can get letters to her quicker. She will be there as long as she needs to heal and regain the strength in her legs so she can successfully pass the run. That may be 4 weeks or 6 or 10 or months. There is no way to know. She just needs you to write and encourage her as much as you can. Your phone calls will be hit and miss. She should get to call in a week or so to update you on what's going on with her healing. This is part of the Roller Coaster that is the Navy. Hang in there and know that they(the Navy) wants your daughter to succeed and be an outstanding Sailor one day. Hold tight and come to the main page for support!
You may even want to share this on the main page. Not everyone sees the posts here.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear she is injured. They will work on getting her healed but like BelovedbyHim said it could take some time. Encourage her to stay positive and focus on getting better.
Here's the link to the RCU group - it's not real active but you might find some helpful info there:
Hang in there!
Marienavymom4kk - I have no advice on stress fractures, or on RCU. But I'm a momma, too. So I just wanted to say - take care of YOU, this is stressful even when they are perfectly healthy! I'm sure she will need your strength, and positivity, to get her through this frustrating setback. So take care of YOU first, so you can offer her lots of positive vibes! hugs to you (and daughter)!
I'm so sorry to hear that! I will say a prayer for her. I agree that you should write to her through Sandboxx and encourage her and stay positive. I read that most stress fractures typically heal in 6 to 8 weeks.
My son was in Booth Camp and was set back because of an injury and went to RCU for recovery was sad but it was very short, he went to therapy and got better. I received a phone call one morning saying he was moved to another division. short story he heal and graduated with a class, he retested for the run and became a sailor. So mom just be there to support her and she will be just fine! believe me this just a little set back. encourage her to do her best and just continue to write her letters and be there for her. will be praying for her for a speedy recover!
Thank you for sharing. My son is currently in BC, so I know it can be challenging when a sailor has a setback and you’re not able to be closer. My son graduates in February. I will definitely keep your daughter in prayer. She may have had a setback but she will come through.
Marienavymom4kk-- How is your daughter doing? Have you gotten an update?
Praying for your daughter and I pray you receive a call from her soon.
My SR told me that when she successfully completes her final run they will put her in another division that's at the same point she was in when she got put in RCU. So she'll be right back where she left off. Same thing for your daughter. Don't worry...be confident...semper gumby!
Ummi - Thank you for sharing and also keeping us up to date on your SR.
Hi Chipmunk! Even though we Moms may not know each other, we all know how it feels to not have the ability to reach out and hug and physically comfort our kids on a journey that we can only stand outside of and watch. The sharing certainly helps allay the anxiety and worry. It's so reassuring that we all reach out to each other. I love that.
