So, up until today I was feeling pretty bad.  Although I still get that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach periodically throughout the day, I am feeling better...I haven't cried (yet) today and that's a first. So to have my daughter's box of things delivered today was great, because had it come any earlier it probably would have caused me an emotional melt down.  But I received it, went to smell her clothes (cause I miss her scent) but the smell that greeted me was not that of my daughter but of dirt and sweat..."poor thing" I thought.  No more perfumes, lotions, no more smell good stuff for now for her.  I hope she's doing well, I hope she doesn't hate it too much.  Just thought I'd share with you all that I got her box and I'm excited now because next comes the form letter and with that I can start sending my letters to her and then hopefully receive some from her in return.

Yr form letter should be in box. Mine was included in the box.

momofbp: No, no note.  I looked and looked but she couldn't slip anything in :( That's okay, I'm sure she was too nervous to.

That's great about your son receiving so many of your letters, I can only imagine how great that must have made him feel!

Thank you for your insight and for responding, your words are so comforting!

katysmom - So happy things are getting better for you....It just takes time and you will have good and bad days.

Hope things continue to go well!!

Thank you so much, you and the rest of the women have been a god sent, you have helped me get through some very difficult days...

We are all in this together and here for each other - which is what is so great!!  Hope our sons/daughters/loved ones all feel the same way too!!

i got my daughters box today too. i was thinking the same thing.i looked at the stuff then had my son take her box so i couldnt look at it again.i did think like you as to looking forward to her letter

i did the same thing you did when i received my sons box it helped to feel his presence again. I am sure she is doing well so many people are saying how much the SR's are actually enjoying it and they are making possibly life long friends and life learning experiences. Have a good day & i hope you get your letter soon

Your form letter should come sometime next week. The envelope is from The Department of the Navy. It will have all the answers to most of your questions. Hopefully your SR will have a moment to leave you a message on the back. What a feeling receiving a letter from your child. Look for questionairres that some others have on this sight. Breaks up those letters a little. Find funny cards. Send some from a family pet. that will get some laughs or better yet they will think you lost it. lol. I sent a book of stamps. Did you send a prepaid phone card? If not, do so now. Some didn't know about this, but it saves them time when get finally get to make that first call.

Welcome aboard. And keep on smiling!!

Hi Katysmom!

I got Erin's box today too! I thought it was never gonna come. I called her recruiter today. He said Erin is in Div 217. We should be getting our form letters in the next few days. I am getting better. I have stopped counting the time she has been gone in hours. I am just sure this next week is going to go faster than the first one!

Hang in there!

Sharon, you are too cute...I love it "I have stopped count the time she has been gone in hours"...that's adorable and I totally understand!  I received the form letter today (so happy) my daughter's division is 213.  Hang in there honey, you're doing a great job and it's true what everyone says 9although I so didn't believe it last week) it does get better, just keep reading the posts on here and the responses, there's so much love and support here, it's amazing.

Just another tip....Make sure calling cards/phone cards are activated before you send them!!  We had this problem and my son's didn't work so fortunately, someone let him use one of his...

Thank you for this tip, I'm freaking out a bit because I sent her with a phone card, but I didn't activate it, she said she knew how to do ....I'll mail her a new one activated straight away...thank you for the guidance!!
