Ok- daughter left on April 18. I called her 'substitute' recruitor today (her's is on vacation) and this is how the conversation went. I'm trying to loosely quote in case I screw info up and you can correct me...
Me- Just wanted to know if you have Christina's address yet?
Him- Yes. Let me get it.
Christina (last name)
USS Kearsarge LHD3- next line
Ship 11 Division then leave a space
Me - Wait-you mean put a dash
Him- No there's just a space and 200-- Wait a minute- let me get something else- ok here do this- this is how the address will go ..Write SR (he said her last name) then Christina . Then the next line write Ship Division 2011 200. then a new line (and then he gave me the Ohio Street address....
I know I sound like an idiot by writing this all out, but I am just so confused and want to KNOW SOMETHING!!
Thanks in advance everyone. I just got 'the box' today and am still stressing over the fact that she sent home her contacts and am wondering how she has been able to see anything until her glasses are made......

1st Line------Last name, FIrst Name, Middle Initial
2nd Line---Ship 11 USS Kearsarge LHD3 Division 200
Recruit Training Command
the Ohio Street address given to you'
Great Lakes, Illinois 60088
However it might be bertter waiting until you get the form letter from your SR with the correct address. I hope this has helped a little.
My best guess would be:
SR [Last name], Christina [Middle Initial]
Ship 11 Div 200
3505 Sailor Drive
Great Lakes, IL 60088-3505
I waited until I got the first letter from him to make sure I got the correct address. It would be a shame to have one of those letters lost... He was able to write on the second Sunday he was there and the letter arrived on the following Thursday.
I really agree with everyone else that you can write the letters but wait until you get the official form letter with the correct address on it is really the best bet.

Thanks so much, guys! I didn't realize there were different street addresses. I didn't quote that! He said, "3600 Ohio Street, Great Lakes, IL 60088. Do you still think that it should be a different address because of the ship????
TIA
Yes. Here's a list of ships and their addresses on RTC's web page:
You should get the information letter soon. Just use that information. That letter should be coming in about 2-3 days. THe address that the recruiters give are often wrong! :(
You will end up writing it out like this though;
SR Last name, first name, middle initial
Recruit Training Command
Ship #, Div. #
Address
City, State and zip
I hope that helps! But I really do think it's best to wait for the information letter. It will give you the solid address and guidelines on what/when/how to send letters.
I know it is hard but just hang in there for the form letter. I will come soon. Keep writing, I think I had 13 letters by the time I got the form letter. The first weeks are always the worst-but believe me when you get to graduation stage the time will have flown by especially since you have found Navy for Moms.

My son's is
SR his name
Ship 04, Division 812
3600 Ohio st
Great lakes, IL 60088-3515
You need the ship number. I haven't recieved a form letter. But my son's recruiter gave me his address the day after my son left. I found this info on the navy boot camp website. Maybe it will help
Proper mailing addresses for recruits are:
SR NAME
SHIP XXX DIV XXX
XXXX STREET OR AVENUE
GREAT LAKES IL 60088-XXXX
Ship 2 Ship 3 Ship 4 Ship 5 Ship 6 |
Ship 7 Ship 9 Ship 10 Ship 11 Ship 12 |
Ship 13 Ship 14 |
