Looking for mom's of SR's who may be in my son's division - left for boot camp on 3-14-12.  Phone call was received.  No box yet.

My SR left for boot camp on 3-14 also.  I too received my phone call but no box.

My husband arrived on the evening of 3-14 but I have learned very quickly on this site that we will not know who is where until we get the forms in the mail after "The Box". I have been on here for 6 days trying to figure this out myself lol. If you want to chat feel free to message me. I actually recieved my husbands address from his recruiter and found out today that was not his permanent one so he wont get any of the letters I have sent him everyday for a few weeks because of it. So if  you have done this, please be aware that you may want to wait to send mail as well. Made me very sad when I found this out. Good luck, and like I said I very much enjoy chatting with people who are going through this as well, so feel free :0) Also I haven't recieved "The Box" yet.

How did you find out?

I was on the chat board and someone sent me a link to read up on the subject, and everyone told me to stop sending letters for now and that he wasnt going to get any of the ones I have sent so far until around 3 weeks after they arrive to the mil. post office. :0(

The address you receive from the recruiter can be wrong but most of the time is not. In fact ,many on here will tell you that! Mine was not worng but it was missing info...so I waited for the form letter.

We do advise that you wait for the Form Letter...just because they write this letter on the first day of training...when they are actually in their Ship/Division. So is it possible for them to be assigned a different Ship?...yes...but it is not common.

It takes about two to three weeks for recruits to even receive their first batch of letters. This is because of "P" days ( they are in temp housing) then when they get to their Ship an MRPO - Mail Recruit Petty Officer (in BC they have 15 or so Recruit Petty Officer Positions)has to take and pass a Federal course to be able to handle the mail. This could take a week or two.

Don't worry...it may take a little longer but they will get to him. Keep writing and maybe number the letters so he knows which to open first!

Still trying to figure out how to add friends on my page, lol!  I thought I was very computer savvy!  guess not

My husband also shipped out to great lakes on 3/14. Was told it's the 2nd week you get the box. Was confused about the form letter. I've heard it comes after the box or in the box. :-/

The box arrives first (usually) by FedEx. This takes about 4-7 days from the date of arrival. Then the Form letter will arrive seperatly by USPS in about 7-14 days after arrival. A lot depends on where you live in realation to RTC...sometimes not!

Make sure when you get that box to search through the pockets and shoes...sometimes they stuff their cell phones, and other items in them for safe travel. Also look for a possible note...look on the flaps too. There is really no time to write one...but some of them are pretty fast!

Oh and if you are wondering why the pants legs are rolled up...they are fitted for boots and don't have time to roll them down!

Hang in there ladies!

No box and no form letter yet.  No news is good news, right?

My son left the 12th. I got his box. No form letter. Yet...
My husband left on 3/14/12 as well. No box yet... Hoping it's there when I get home from work!
