Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

M daughter left for boot camp on 02/27/2012
I am so glad that I have this opportunity to be apart os this group...It helps me deal with my daughter being gone...This is her first time away from me this long without at least a phone call everyday..My tears are still flowing, but with the help of this group and your stories, I am able to understand that she will be o.k....Patiently waiting for my letters and calls, then of course, graduation day!!!!!

My son left on 2/28/12 to GL for BC. This site has helped me tremendously!! Everything I've read has come true so far. I received the "Kid in a box" today... Without this site I would have bald my eyes out.
This is the first time my son has been away from home, ever flew in a plane....
Someone said "BC is harder on parents". I don't agree, yes we ache for our children, they have so much more to endure. Prayers for ALL our sons & daughters!
I'm grateful especially for this post! Now I feel more connected. -

I received her box yesterday, and it is true that this web site has made this transition a bit easier. I remember reading about how tough it was for some moms to get that box and crying for them as I was reading,but when I got mine, I was a bit numb, a bit depressed, a bit teary, but not as sad as I think I would have been if I had not anticipated it.

Hallo... i received "THE BOX" on Friday ... when the door rand and looked outside i saw the box and grabed it i hurried and opened it... and i just started crying so hard, holding on to his cloth and looking desperatly for a little note, just something little, but nothing.... i still have the box standing here and the cloth inside... now today was a great day... he arrived bootcamp wednesday 12:40 am, when i got his 15 sec. call, but today i also got his letter with the info and his address, so i will finish some of my started letter and looking forward to mail my letters out to him on monday.... i cant wait ... i am still very emotional on day 6... i miss him like crazy....

Hello!
I will be looking for the mom/wife/GF etc. who will be interested in creating the 04/27/2012 PIR group.
So if you get that info either in your form letter or from your recruiter that would help. This most likely will be a "mom" who's recruit arrived at BC between 02/23 – 02/28 (?) ...give or take...there are no exacts…ONLY my “guestimation”. I just saw one mom report receiving her form letter and her son arrived on 02/23 and has a 04/27 PIR.
New TG’s are posted on RTC website on Mondays (unless there is a Federal Holiday then it is Tuesday). Lately, it has been later in the week….Fridays. So you can see what I mean about no exacts.
BC can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks. It is also possible for recruits to arrive in the same week…or day…but have different PIR dates. Your recruiter may have your recruit’s ship/division as early as 72 hours after arriving at BC. I will take this ship/div # for the purpose of starting a PIR group BUT please wait for the form letter that your recruit will send home to address your mail and send it. The address your recruiter gets oftentimes is incomplete or has too much information that is not necessary for the address.

Sorry to bother you...my daughter arrived at BC late evening 02/27...got her box on 03/02 but no form letter yet...any idea when the form letter will be arriving?

From my understanding, the form letter will be sent this week.

I was told that it could take up to 10-12 days after they left for it to come...Maybe our daughters are in th same division....if so we should keep in touch

Most likely she will be in the same group is my son...I just started this page, once you get the letter it will tell you here PIR date...most likely the same as my son 4-27-12. I am new at this too and am being metored...please join if you can.
I wish you the best and understand what you are going though...I am a single mom and he is my only child..UGH! But I know that he is doing the best for himself and that is what keep me going!
