Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

May 7 boot camp first day
Well, I've gone from a DEP to a BCMom, he left today and I received the phone call around 9:10. I've been in his room and placed a blue candle in the window(like those plastic christmas candles). This made me feel good. Will start marking down the days tomorrow. From what everyone says he is in bed right now but will be up at 12:00. I know I am one of thousands of moms but it's my one. I am very proud of his decision but already miss him. Is there anyone else on here with a son that left for RTC today?

My son left Monday, may 6th. Yesterday was very hard for me....finishing up his laundry, changing his sheets( why?). But his friends keep stopping by for support so it helps with his absence. I keep checking the RTC Facebook page to see if he's in any of the photos. My husband just keeps saying "Aw" whenever I talk about him. Hopefully it lessens as the days go on. Prayers to you that you get through this too!

I went to school today (I'm a teacher) and it is the end of the school year which means I am very busy with Seniors (I'm a senior sponsor), grades, finals and projects. At school, it was ok but came home and it took my breath away when I saw his car and his empty room. This is so wonderful having all of the Moms on here and their support. Prayers to you too.

My son also left for BC on May 6th. Its been hard alright. We put up a flag outside of our house and a navy sticker in the window and plan to put up a blue star flag after PIR. My name is Becky and my sailors name is Derrick. Nice to meet you. Send any messages to me anytime. The sobbing the tears, I totally understand. We have started writing letters already and have five with 2 greeting cards..waiting for the BOX with the form letter so we can send. I am confused about how much time they will have after graduation. First time I heard a week, now I am hearing 3 days. Prayers and hugs to you. Becky

I can't say it will get better, but it does get easier. As soon as you receive the form letter things will lighten up just a little for you. It is the first thing that you get that will probably let you take a deep breath (and you will probably cry).
As soon as you get the form letter make sure you post that you have and we will get a group going for your PIR date.
Hang tight and a prayer your way ladies, the ride has just begun!!

Hi ladies, I'm only slightly ahead of you. My SR arrived at bootcamp on 4/15. I'm not going to gloss it over, it was hard, I cried a lot, & cried easily. I still cry (not triggered as easily tho) and I miss him deeply. I think the key for me has been prayer & the veteran moms on N4M. Ellen0502, lemonelephant, lalaribbonqueen, diannep & others (I'm sorry if I have left you out!) have brought so much comfort with their experience and their guidance. I've finally received my first "real" phone call & letters (during wk 3) and EVERYTHING they said was true! NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS! It's so hard to believe that, but that's the truth of it. As soon as you get your SR PIR date, I strongly urge you to join the page. Such valuable info & its a safe supportive place to post your struggles, worries, concerns, questions & an awesome place to share when you get your calls & letters. It's also nice because if your SR is in a division that is posted about from another mom/wife that has received a call/letter, you sort of get an update on your SR. We will all get through this together, stronger & wiser! I don't know much, but if I can help in anyway, don't hesitate to ask. Veteran moms are the best and they want to help us thru this so make sure you put your questions out there! God bless our SR's!

Your heart wants to burst with pride that shines, that goes into the depths of anguish, knowing how long he will be gone, and hard it will be for him. My son left Monday as well. We have to believe that this will be good for them, eventually, somewhere in their life. Hang in there, and message me. We will get through it together, as our sons are doing. Becky

My son left monday too. I straightened my sons room and did his laundry too :) Staying busy has helped with the sadness. The first day was horrible. We were all exhausted from getting up so early to go see him sworn in. My daughter is 12 and she sat in his room wearing his jacket and cried for hours. They wake up at 12am?!?! Where are all of yall from that had a child that left on Monday? I'm from Aledo, Tx.

I can totally relate as my 13 year old daughter and 11 year old son have been so upset since their big sister left. We are located outside Albany, NY.
I was very happy to get my daughter's mailing address last night, and the cards and letters have started flowing to her.

Did she leave Monday also? If so, how did you get her address so quick? ive been anxiously awaiting my sons address. Nothing yet.
