My bf left for bootcamp on Wednesday 9/2,and arrived in Chicago 9/3 around 6:45pm that evening. I talked to him up to the point where he arrived . Then he had his first call around 10pm that night , that I missed :-( (I'm still sad that I missed his last call) . He sent a text saying he love us and his next call is in 4 weeks.
I just wanted to connect with other members who had a loved one arrive on or around the same day . Have you received anything in the mail from your loved one ? Ship or letter info? Anything? I'm just in the dark about everything until I hear back from him next month.
Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 8 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)
You will not have an address for at least that long. You can and should still write letters, Just number them so your SR knows the order to read them. We are also suggesting that you make a copy if you are handwriting them since there are several reasons that letters may not make it to their intended recipient.
Based on your Dates he Should be starting P-days today, so as you are reading my blog you can figure out where you are.
Thank you this helps alot! This relieves some anxiety and stress.
You are welcome. Let me know if you need more help.
Patrice - Welcome to BC Moms (and loved ones) group. You posted this up in the discussion section of the main group page. If you scroll on down to the comment section and post a note as well maybe someone else will see it there. The comment section is where we do most of our daily chatter.
Oh thanks for letting me. I'm still trying to get use to this .
Patrice - It can be a little difficult to navigate the site if you are using a mobile device. If so, be sure to put it into desktop mode so you can pan the screen more. (I think). I only use my computer to reply on here. And we have a lot on the BC Mom page so sometimes if you don't scroll all the way down to see the comments you miss it. Also, I posted in the discussion the first time I posted anything because I wasn't sure how it all worked. But not everyone receives notices about the discussion in their email feed so that is why I suggest posting in the comment section. Be sure to go to the link for BelovedbyHim's blog and read that info as well if you haven't already.
I am using my laptop. Thank you for the helpful tips. I don't receive notifications either. I will check out the BC Mom page, too. I think I still posted it again in the wrong location lol. No worries, I'll get use to the navigation soon. I appreciate your assistance. Have a great day.
Patrice, I am glad that it is working out well for you.
Hi Patrice, it is definitely going to be difficult in not try to worry, but there will be a month without communication, I just got a letter from my girlfriend a month after she had gotten done with quarantine, once you get that letter it will ease your mind. I know cause I was a wreck for the whole month and just put it in your mindset that everything is alright, like the saying is, “no news is good news.” Everything will be alright just hang in there.
Thank you for this. I'll keep a lookout for any letters he may send. Thursday makes 3 weeks so I still have a little while to go. Now that I have a little insight about what's going on, I am a little at ease. Thanks so much!
Hi Patrice, my son arrived onboard Fort McCoy on 9/1 and as far as I know he got to RTC on 9/15. You are not alone, we have not heard anything either. Remember, no news is good news and they are still on their normal training schedule. Hang in there!!!
Thank you so much. I don't even know if he went to Fort McCoy. He told me he landed in Chicago so maybe he was bused to Fort McCoy later that night. You're right..no news is good news! Thank you !
