My son left 9/11 for boot camp and I was at a complete loss until I joined this site and received direction from a beautiful navy mom! Thanks lemonelephant you're the best!! I never received a call that night but no news is good news and I'm holding onto that! I'm looking to connect with other moms! I'm looking forward to receiving his box but most of all the form letter! I've been writing him everyday and will send them when I have his address. I miss him dearly but I'm one proud momma! This is going to be a long 9 weeks but I know it will make us all stronger! Love and hugs!

Oh trust me....those things aren't long for this world, but they do make me smile and funny @mcsleeper I put them by the back door too!!!!

Hi!!!  My son left on 9/10.  Just on the 16th I received his box and the form letter came a day or two later. It was postmarked the 13th but they say that it can take 5-10 days for mail to arrive.  I would love to make some new friends with this in common!!  My son is Ship 13 Division 422.  Where do you live?  I am in Upstate NY.  Christine

I received a call on Saturday. It's the longest week and half I've waited. He sounded great! I miss him dearly still but I'm more at ease having heard from him. Not hearing from him when he first got there was awful but the flood of relief feels so good now. I'm still waiting on the form letter
Omg I am so upset! I mean I am happy for you that you got your call on Saturday but my son went in on 9/12 and I haven't got a call or a letter yet! Like you, I didn't get a call when he arrived either. I just want to cry! I need to know he is doing ok! So sad. I haven't received the form letter either.

oh no my heart goes out to you Kirsten!! I was so lost and heart broken without hearing from him. I know exactly how you feel. wish I could hug you right now. I still cry every day but im breathing a little easier. I pray you hear from him soon. know im thinking of you. we will get through this together.

Thank-you! We need each other right now! Thank god I can talk to people who are going through the same thing. I am so happy that you heard from your son. I am sure I will soon! Hopefully the form or the letter will come this week. My phone never leaves my side because I am afraid I will miss his call!
