It has been 3 days and it's starting to sink in that he's gone. This is so painful,I feel like I can't breathe if I let my mind think about him being so far away from his home. How long does it take for this raw pain to end? Does it get better in days,weeks...?  How long after they pull away on the bus from MEPS does it take to get their address? Another phone call?  ANY help will be greatly appreciated. I pray that all of you dear Moms are okay and that your families are doing well also. Prayer is helping a lot,it's the night time that gets me. I can't imagine the captain covering up my sons feet when he kicks the covers off in the middle of the night,It's cold up there! Lol. I miss him but I am staying strong for him and my other family members. It sure is tough though!  This site has helped me tremendously!!

Im feeling the same way. My son left the same day as yours. If you go on youtube there are videos on there that show what their days consist of. I know for myself it is the unknown. Not knowing what he is doing that has made it  harder for me but seeing what their days consist of helps.

I agree as far as this site helping tremendously. Im feeling much better knowing that Im not alone.

Thank you Sheila,I will go on youtube for the videos. I hope you're feeling ok tonight. I find myself going to bed a lot earlier than usual, the evenings are the hardest with his empty chair at the dinner table. Tomorrow will be a better day! A day closer to graduation! :)

My son left Buffalo, NY for boot camp on 2/21/12 and he arrived at the Great Lakes Training Center that same Tuesday. I got the box with his belongings on Friday 2-24 and this made it more real to me.

I love reading all the different comments on this site because they let me know that I am not alone on this journey. I am keeping a positive outlook. There are some really great videos available on this site which will add a little comfort if you are worried about your loved one at camp. I watched about four different videos which made me feel a lot better about everything.

It's tough missing my son. It surely is!

Thank you Allensmom3, today has been a rough day for me. Everything I've seen today reminds me that my son is away. Very tough! I am definitely taking the time to watch the videos this evening. Thank you so much. Rhonda.  My cousin Jerry Gillis has a church in Buffalo. :)

I am looking for a mom to start the 04/20/2012 PIR group. If you have received confirmation that this is your PIR date and would like to create the group…please friend me and I will help you get it going.

I have been contacted by one mom but we seem to keep missing each other on here!

Thank you!

DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in February..Hey I just found this group...thought you might like it...!
