Luckily, Gary called me twice, once when he arrived at the airport, but all he really said was that he arrived and was super hungry. Going for food. The second call came at 9:30pm, the scripted "I'm here" call. That was it. I've already wrote 3 letters and 2 cards, waiting on the form letter so I can send them. Thinking about going to get some pre stamped post cards today to send him so he can write home easier. Miss him so much my heart aches and my husband can't figure out why I feel so miserable we've been anticipating his departure for 6 months. He truly needed to start his life but the emptiness I feel is overwhelming. I found a really good Blog JoyUnexpected.com that has helped, its a mom's feeling on when her oldest son left. It's exactly how I'm feeling.
I'm glad to hear it gets better, I can't imagine having two away. Although my daughter plans to go away to college in a few years but I think thats a little different because I'll be able to visit and call whenever I want. I'm thinking maybe once I find out where he'll be stationed, I'll feel a little more relaxed.
I can't even imagine my daughter going to Boot Camp. Having my son gone is torture enough. My thoughts go out to you. It's only Day 4 for me and it's a little better, comes in waves of sorrow now.
