My son left to BT on Tuesday. I missed his "I'm here" call because it came in at 1:13 a.m. California time. I have not been able to stop crying and being sad. We are a single parent family and we are very close. Any advice to help me is so welcome. Thank you.

Thank you! You made me laugh at the kid in the box! I am going out to by a candle right now. Thank you again Kim SHIP. ♥
Thank you so much Doris. I knew I could find support through this site.
Our son's are together! We'll have to keep close.
I can't stop either. I had to go and buy anti-puffy eye products!
Mine left Tuesday, too, from Ohio. My call came in at 8:54pm est. I know what you mean about crying and being sad. I often have that 'grief' feeling in the pit of my stomach. We are a single family household, too. It's been my son and me for 24 years. He's my only child. I am now all alone. What has helped me, though, is one of my g/f's was kind enough to come and stay here with me for a few days right after he left. She also went to the swearing in ceremony with me. She has kept me busy the past few days and has diverted my attention. It's made a big difference. I know once she leaves, it will be an adjustment again - but, I will be a little more used to him not being here. Keeping busy is key. Another thing that has helped is joining this site and also watching a whole bunch of videos about Boot Camp. It really shows you what they are doing on the various days/weeks. It makes me feel closer to him. I'm still trying to figure out which P day this is. But, I think it's P-4. I'm also trying to figure out the PIR day. I think it's either July 19th or 26th. I think our boys are on the same week. If so, we will have to keep in touch and go through this journey together.
Mine must have been standing next to yours when he called cause I got my call at 1230 eastern time. Girl I haven't stop crying. Just know you are so NOT alone. And neither is he. I am sitting here crying now. LOL. And I don't think there is anything to make it easier except time and all of us sticking together. So I am volunteering to be here for you if you need to cry.
navyboyzrus03 - It sounds like your son left for BC earlier this week, too. He left for Great Lakes, right? I sent you a friends request. I think we're in the same start Boot Camp week.
I got the call, but it came very quickly (2:15 pm central) and we weren't expected it until 4-5pm per his recruiter. I honestly wished I hadn't picked up the phone. Very scripted, very quick, "I got to go now" final comment. I knew in his voice he was scared, standing next to someone, etc........ I fell apart about an hour later when I went downstairs and could smell his cologne/ shower gel and knew he had been there the morning before. Totally fell apart crying for 20 minutes or so. Doesn't help that my dr just started me on a hormone for perimenopausal symptoms. This really came at a crappy time in this mom's life. Hang in there everyone!!
