The N4M site has evolved since it was first launched in the spring of 2008 and we welcome everyone, not just moms. As well as moms, we have, or have had, stepmoms, second moms, dads, stepdads, second dads, grandmothers, a grandfather at least once, wives, fiancées, girlfriends, husbands once in a while, a fiancé or two, boyfriends, sisters, aunts, at least one cousin, best friends.... and I probably missed some who have joined us at various times on Boot Camp Moms. So you see, we're a pretty diverse group. In light of that, what are your thoughts on changing the name of this group to reflect that we welcome everyone?

I have thought of Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), which would keep the original title out of respect for the group's creator, Donna, but I want your input and there could be a much better name. I have also thought of Boot Camp Family and Friends.

What are your thoughts???

Thanks.

Since I've made the temporary change in the name, please make sure it is clear in your comment that you want Boot Camp Moms or Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) or something else.

Thanks

I love the "new" name .... Great job!!!

Hello there lemonelephant!  I just happened to stop by this site remembering how tough Christmas was last year when my son was in boot, and wanting to offer some encouragement to those experiencing that this year.  When I saw this post, I was prompted to respond.  I think it would be nice to change the name to Boot Camp Moms and Loved Ones.  When I think of how difficult the boot camp experience was for me, I can't imagine not having had this group, and you loyal Moms who have stayed here with such dedication to help us through.  Changing the name to make those who aren't "Moms" feel more welcome certainly seems to be a wonderful idea to me.  Anything to help more people through this time in their lives, would indeed be a blessing to many who otherwise might not come to this group.  I vote yes!

I think keep the name as is. This group was created my a "navy mom". Anyone should be welcome to join the group. There are groups on this site specifically for "girlfriends, fiances and wives". Why change? or okay to add (loved ones).

My first thought was to keep this just as it was...Boot Camp for Moms...but that is probably because I am a mom and feel like it's "for me". After giving it thought, I also like how you added (and loved ones). It is great for anyone needing information and encouragement to feel like the can join and add to our experience :) Thanks Lemonelephant for being so considerate and helpful!!

Thanks for that. :o)

Boot Camp Families is good.

How about boot camp worriers?....lol. I like adding the loved ones. There are a lot of people out there concerned about their sailors.

I am not considering current ties to BC, only the opinion of the posters, because all have some tie to this group. I will leave the Discussion open until Wednesday, which will have been 2 weeks since it was posted, and see where the numbers lead us.

1. Boot Camp Moms

2. Boot Camp Supporters

3. Boot Camp Families & Friends

Leave the title along. Suggested first line of the description "A support group for families and friends with a recruit at Navy Boot Camp."  I prefer not to have "loved ones" on the title because appears often on advertisements for burial plots, funeral insurance, mortuaries.

I like Boot Camp Family and Friends.  With wives, grandma's, girlfriends and maybe even a dad, this would include everyone.  I also like adding support to the name.  This site offers so much support and without you lemonelephant and other's we all would be lost.

Boot Camp Family and Friend's Support?

Thanks to all who responded concerning the proposed name change for this group. The name will now remain Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

Perfect :)
