OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

I just found this page again. My oldest son graduated boot camp in 2013 and now my younger son just landed in Chicago for boot camp. Please remind me how and when to join the groups. I would love to keep track of his progress lime I was able to with my older son. Thanks

Kimmie Hi please keep your Phone close for the I'm here call as that call will come when he gets to BC. I will be a scripted couple sec. call. in a few weeks you will receive the box and it will come fed ex and needs to be signed for. please come join Boot camp for Moms and this is where you will begin the process.

What will the first day be like at BC?

See Arrival and What Happens at RTC and Ship/Division--How it Works.

How long is the "I'm here!" call and when will s/he be able to call again?

See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

When will "The Box" come?

It will usually arrive by FedEx within a few days, but it can take up to 2 weeks at times.

Once you have his PIR date you can join the group for that graduation. Those pinks are posted on the main page of this group. You may also want to join the group for his rating.

Wow, 2013 and now you are going through it again, kudos to your sons and family.  What I really loved as you get closer to PIR -- there should be a Facebook Group with lots of information and people share a lot as the PIR date approaches.

Thanks so much for the info. It's been a long time.

Welcome back kimmie16!  Look around at the groups and feel free to join any and jump right in.  What is your sons rate - hopefully there is an active group for it.  Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Not sure if this an ok place to ask this -but I still haven't gotten that phone call - he landed about 3 hours ago - is it typical to take this long to get the call that he's there?

Celticwoman if you never received the I'm here call, it may be because his phone may have had no charge. Sometimes that happens. They do not have phones for them to call out to say I'm here. Hope that call came thru.

Celticwoman2, did you get the call.   They do have to wait on others.

I got it... just a little after I posted the question - Murphy's Law right? Thank you so much for checking!
