I recommend getting a car too; however, I do not recommend the Ramada Inn. We stayed there a year ago and it was old and smelled bad. There are better options in the area.
Having a rental car will give you more freedom than not having one and sometimes you can get a really good deal that will cost you less than using a taxi, but yo have to decide what is best for you. See Saving Money PIR Weekend and PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend.
Join the group, PIR 05/31/2013 TG 29 - 10 Divisions (205-212, 811 and 929), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.
There are groups for most of the "A" Schools and ratings. Here are two of the Pensacola groups, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola. What will his rating (job/specialty) be?
(Group names within this reply are clickable links.)
I would definitely rent a car! As previously mentioned, it makes getting around so much easier.
You should recieve a pamphlet in your form letter package that has discount on Ace rent a car. You need to take that with you to the car rental so they can honor the discount. Still would want a car incase your sailor wants something special before he departs RTC. Ace phone # 1- 800 323-3221 Promo Code "GF" . but you must take pamphlet with you !!
Good choice! You will be happier in the Holiday Inn.
