I'm a new wife, soon to be new mom, and new to the whole military world. My husband and I were married on the 8th and he left for BC in Great Lakes on the  31st. Its been one week since he's been gone and I am loosing my mind! We got his "box" and honestly it was not a relieving thing. I felt as though someone was handing me his last possessions, as if he had died. That's how I've been feeling, as if he has died. I can barely sleep or keep my mind off anything but him. I'm having a hard time dealing with the uncertainty of the military, also. Dates changing, policies changing, and money definitely changing. I haven't been able to get clear, positive information and for me that's a huge problem. Being 6 months pregnant and not having my husband by my side to help is miserable. I am very thankful and fortunate to have such great family and in-laws that are doing everything in their power to help me through this but without communication with my husband it doesn't do much good. I need advise on how to deal with the separation. How to get definite answers to my questions. How to keep from losing my sanity for the next 7 weeks. Any advise or comments will help! Thank you!

I have written a little something almost everyday. Before he left we were inseparable, spending 24/7 with each other. Not one night did I have to sleep without him next to me and now all of a sudden hes gone. This has been the hardest for me. Not being able to speak to him or see him or any of that. Im trying everything in power to remain sane and positive, but like you said, it aint working!!  I also have the curse of hormones flowing through my body which is making it that much more difficult. I have no doubt in my mind that he wont succeed. Staying strong is what I keep reminding myself and having you reply and reassure me that it gets better helps alot. Especially since your pretty much in the same boat as me. Thank you! I added you on Facebook and am looking forward to checking out the group your talking about!
hndunn91:  Hang in there - BC is the hardest part to get through.  I'm going through it for a 2nd time right now.  The good thing about getting the box is that you know he is there and safe.  Once you get your form letter with his address, things will be better.  His address will be on that.  Write him every day & stay postitive in your letters.  This is a tough time for him as well.  Just as everything is new for you, it is also very new and different for him.  Check the N4M site & see join the group that is in your local area.  I'm in Phoenix & we have 2 great groups - one for the Phoenix area & one for AZ.  Your local group will be your best support.

Writing has been my therapy while my husband's been gone. I write the good happy stuff to him, and I have a journal to really get out how this is making me feel. He doesn't need to read about any of the negative that I'm going through. Every night before I go to bed, I give him a recap about the day and throw in some encouraging words as well as reminding him how much I love him. We're now past the halfway mark, it has gone by a little faster than I thought. July 1 seemed so far away when that letter arrived May 17 with his address and grad information. Now, I have a plane ticket for me and the kids, hotel reserved and a car rental awaiting our arrival June 30. These next three weeks can't go by fast enough. I happily look forward to Thursday as it should bring a letter from him. It's not the same as having him hear, but it helps. As well as whatever FB group MySailorMyHero suggested, go and find the one for the Recruit Training Command. The greatest thing about that site, they do random pictures of recruits. They ask for no requests as there are so many DIVs with a lot of recruits in each, it'd be impossible to photograph everyone. But seeing the pictures, even if he's not in them, has made it a little easier.

Let me know if you need anything or a digital shoulder to cry on.
