My son left for BC on 9/15, we received a call from him while he was at the airport waiting for the bus to take him to the base.  What a relief it was to hear his voice and to also hear the strength in it!!  He was so ready to go and we are so proud, but the mommy in me misses him already.

So great to have this site, it has answered so many questions, and it gives me great comfort that I am not alone!!  Thank You!!

Tamark.. good luck to your son.. he will do just fine if he was ready to go. You will get a letter soon and a call in a few weeks. Mine has been in for 8 months and I still miss the heck out of him. However I could not be prouder and I am certain you feel the same way... God Bless and GO NAVY!!!!!!!!
This is the best place for "newbies". These ladies have a wealth of info and are so willing to share experiences.

It's a tough thing to send your "child" off to bootcamp and this is a great place to come for info and support. I must have cried a river of tears, usually when the house was quiet and everyone including the dog were asleep. The moms on here helped me a lot. Whether I actually asked a question, vented, cried, or just read through other posts, it was always helpful.
Tamark: my husband did the same thing, but he called me from a pay phone at the airport cause his phone died.. good luck.. stay strong..
Second timer too! It is easier knowing what to expect, but still not easier at the same time. :0) Being my second time around again so grateful for this web site even though I have been there done that.
Good luck it is a roller coaster of emotions. Be very proud and come here often. Many will help and share. My daughter PIR'd Aug of 09. She graduated high school May of 09 and left for boot camp June 09. She is now stationed in Va...we live in Ca..it is still a learning experiene!!!! We all should be very proud of our sons, daughters, spouses and all who serve..Thank you all and thank you to all the families!!!!
We're here for you Newbie Mom!! My daughter leaves in a couple of weeks and I get very emotional about her departure; yet I couldn't possibly be any prouder of her. This site is fantastic and provides lots of support and information.
Hello, yup it sure makes it easier when they are so excited to go. Last year my oldest was questioning his choice right before and was actually scared to leave for boot camp. This year my youngest was so excited to go, he left 9/15 too from Spokane. I learned from my last experience to go ahead and send the cell phone with my youngest this time. It is so nice to get that call from the airport... because it is so hard to send them on that plane as it is. Our, "I am here", on base call didn't come until 24 hours after he left here. So it was a blessing he had his cell phone to call from Chicago. AND This web site is the greatest thing ever created! You are not alone, we all walking this roller coaster right along side you. Hey, maybe our boys will be in the same ship? :0)
My Son left on 09/14. That last call from the air port at O'Hare while he was waiting to get on the bus was the best. The 30 second call from RTC was hard... I just wanted to talk and all he could say was i love you mom...gotta go. I am very proud of him.
My son left on 9/14 too. He called his Dad's phone, so I didn't get a chance to say hey- it was that short of a call! HA. We got his box of clothes on Friday, so things must be moving along.
