So I'm super nervous about my daughters run. Before she left she worked super hard to get her run time to 1.5 in 18 min flat. She hit it two day before she left. She swore in 02/25 and flew out but due to flights being super long where we live she got to GL's on 2/26 Im confused by when her 5TH day would be. I really want to be pray extra hard that day for her I know it sounds odd. Ive seen some thing say the night she got there is P1 and some thing say the next day is p1. I really don't want to get a call from her this early on. Like I said not as much crying just a worry wort now :/

Louisa, first things first, take a deep breath Mama.  Breathe in and let it out slowly.  Again.  You've got this!  Your sailor is going to be fine.  This is what she has been working towards.  If she doesn't make the time the first time, the Navy will work with her to get her where she needs to be.

Prayer is ALWAYS good.  It doesn't have to be specific.  I used to pray for my SR in this way - If he's resting, let him be fully rested, If he's being tested, let him be strong, If he's struggling, let him know we believe in him.....etc.

The Navy is also teaching us Mamas to let it go as well.  We cannot stick to a schedule because the Navy works on its own schedule.  We have to be flexible.  It is a tough journey, but we all will get there!!  I will be praying for your SR.  Hang in there!

And remember to breathe.......

Hi Louisa J!  I was in EXACTLY the same place as you about 3 months ago. My son arrived at BC on 12/4/19 and I was extremely nervous about the 1.5M run for him, because it was his biggest hurdle, and he had been working on improving his run time before he left for BC.  I also wasn't exactly sure when P-5 was, so I just prayed for him every day that week and prayed that I would not get a phone call.

It feels weird to NOT want to get a phone call from them, because you wish you COULD hear from them to know how they are doing, but you know that no news is good news, so you have to fight the instinct to want that phone call. IT IS HARD!! But, know that we all felt this way, and we all got through it, and YOU WILL TOO!!

My son told me that running at BC was actually easier than running at home. I'm not sure how your daughter trained, but my son ran outside around our neighborhood here in NJ, and also ran on the treadmill at the gym once or twice per week. He passed his initial PFA (only 20 seconds to spare) and then he joined a run clinic at BC that practiced on Saturday mornings. By the time he had his final PFA, he had shaved over 3 minutes from his run time, and passed that with over 30 seconds to spare!

Your daughter will find strength reserves that she never knew she had, and she will do great! I will be praying for her (and you) as well! Hugs to you - hang in there! :)

Louisa J-- You are NOT Crazy!!! You are Not alone and You are right to pray!!  She arrived at GL and you got the "I'm here" Call in the late hours of 2/26, Correct?  They start P1 as soon as they arrive and are up for often over 24 hours.  It's rough but it's part of the weeding out process.  P1 would be complete on 2/27, so Today 3/4 would be P5. The first weeks are hard and prayer is always a good thing!! You can even write some of those prayers in your letters to her so she knows you are praying for whatever comes her way.  Tears are natural!! I cried when I found out I was expecting, I cried when I had my babies, I cried over countless hurts and trials in their lives as they grew up and I cried when they left!  This is a piece of my heart walking around outside of my body and away from me!  I Love my children and want what's best for them but man, the letting go is SO hard at first!!!  You will find that you have strength you didn't know and Pride like you never imagined possible! Try not to worry but in all things with prayer and supplication make your requests known to God!  It's ok to be concerned but try not to worry!!  {{{{{{BNMH}}}}}}}
