My son arrived in GL’s on 6/16 and started his off base ROM. He was covid tested on 6/25 and tested positive. He was transferred to on base ROM 6/28. Does anyone else have a recruit in on base ROM and if so, can you send them letters?

My son just called and said he is showing signs of covid 19 that they trsted him, how can i find out what the results will be? He is running a high fever and cough! Will he be under a drs care? How can i be informed

My daughter contracted covid while there. She had symptoms similar to a bad cold. She was quarantined for 14 days as she improved then returned to training. She was under the care of a corpsman (an enlisted member of a military medical unit) who checked her daily. You cannot find out anything. You will be informed.  My daughter was given phone privilege once a week while sick to keep us informed. It was a little maddening, but I learned that no news is good news. You see, already they have informed you. If something bad happens, you will be informed. Don't worry (haha). He's in the best place he can be. Don't forget, they have an investment in him. They will get him well. Be positive when he calls. My daughter is recovered, graduated and at her naval school. Peace and good health to you and your son.

SailorMom - Thank you for your kind reply and information for Missyo!  I am also glad to hear that your daughter is doing well. I apologize as well, sometimes I read messages in my email feed and forget to look back through the discussion. I had forgotten that I had been trying to check up on your earlier post.

Hey SailorMom-

I'm so glad your daughter is better now and is at A school. How is she doing? Praise God.

Thank you for those kinds words to Missyo. I was in zoom meetings all day and could not respond right away. It is scary and worrisome when we can't take care of our kids when they are sick.

God Bless.  :)

Thank you for asking. She is so happy. She really likes her roommate, She likes where she is. She is being kept very busy while she waits for her classes to begin soon. I'm hoping that she has immunity from her recent covid experience, but I know there is no guarantee. She is disappointed that covid will prevent them all from exploring their new surroundings, but she is still excited. That is a relief. After graduation, when she had so little sleep and she was exhausted from the battle stations test she was questioning her decision during that "I graduated" call. I just assured her that she made the right decision and that she would feel better the next day. She did! We are all so happy for her.

Missyo-- I know that you are worried.  This illness is scary.  SOP ( Standard Operating Procedure)  is that you are only notified if there is a change in your SR's status.   There is no guarantee that they will notify you if he is positive for COVID or even if they move him into the hospital (which is right across the street from RTC).  I wish I could tell you that yes you will have all the information or call X number to speak to his doctor but sadly it just doesn't work that way.  They are more closely monitoring the SR's however.   When mine was in he too got sick and endured pneumonia for most of his training.  No days to rest and  recover, just push on through, so in that sense your son is getting better care. I lost my MIL to COVID and a good friend as well.  I know you are scared and you just want to go protect him but I also know you are aware of the reality of Military life.   They will allow him to notify you if things change.

If you do not want to get emails when folks respond you can check the box right below the comment box to stop following.   I encourage you to leave your comments however since they may help another mom who finds themselves in the same position.

Please know we all are trying to help and encourage you.   SailorMom gave you some outstanding advice and information.

Karen -- Where is your SR in their training?  Did they recover fully from their bout of COVID?
