OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I hope to have alot of support here. I know when my time comes, it will be much needed. I am so happy and grateful for this site!

Jenjabear we will be right here to help you through it!!!!

@ jenjabear,  My daughter has been gone 2wks now. And the Ladies here WILL be your new best friends.  Information is power and it helps to have others that know where you are at!!. Its a new journey for you and your SR. Pray often and  look forward to the new experiences they will have. How exciting for them!! That is your focus! Good luck, and post often!!

Jenjabear, I know this is hard. I have two children, my son is leaving for the Air Force March 20th and my daughter is leaving for the Navy April 20th.  I feel so lost.  I try not to think about it, because every time I do, I cry.

Yahoolady51.....I have a son in the Air Force and my daughter is in the Navy. I will tell you that the Air Force was a whole lot more mom friendly....meaning I was able to talk to my son sometimes twice a week. He was able to take his cell phone and keep it. He had to turn it in to his superior but he could use it when they had phone time. Make sure you go to both graduation cermonies...they are very different!!! Welcome to the military mom world!!!!

CLAMOMShip11, thank you so much. Sometimes I just have to laugh. I was a army "brat". My father was an Officer and all I knew was "Army".  This is a whole new experience. I hope we can talk often, as I value your advice and help.  Again, thank you.

I'll be right here for you yahoolady51:)

Do you know what your jobs they will be doing?

My son will be with Security Forces and my daughter is AO.
