OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Phone call home...probable discharge :(
My son shipped out on July 6th, so he has been there less than a week. Today they did a hearing test that he did not pass. He was on delayed enlistment for a year waiting for this and passed the test at MEPS, so we are completely blindsided by his not being able to pass now, and not sure what has happened. He said that he will probably be coming back home in a few days and he is completely devastated, my heart is breaking for him and I cannot be there for him, and we are not even sure exactly what is happening.

There is nothing worse than knowing your child is in pain and being completely powerless to stop it, is there? From what I have read, if his hearing loss is permanent it is a complete medical bar from service and it could still take them several days to process him out. He will need your support and encouragement and love more than ever as he regroups and prepares for a new/different dream for his future. This door may be closing, but that only means that God has something much better in mind for him. Wherever that new path takes him, he will do it with honor, courage, and commitment. Saying a special prayer for your son tonight.

It will be more than a few days before he comes home. The SEPS process takes two to three weeks. I put info on your My Page.

Thank you everyone for you kind thoughts and prayers. I am not sure what they will do, and my son is not really sure at this time. He has never had a problem hearing, and we suspect this may be temporary but our hands seem to be tied. I just know how he must feel right now, and thank you so much for the information and prayers

I hope that he has another check and does get to stay and was not sent to SEPS, but if he indicated he is in SEPS, then he can ask for another test and appeal the separation.

We really feel it is a temporary hearing loss, he had been sick and he had went target shooting shortly before leaving. I am waiting for a call to get more information, and thank you for the information on the appeal.

Me too, I have not received another call from him, so I am crossing my fingers. From the info that you left, I was under the impression that they make the initial call home and then they are allowed another call at INDOC, but I have not received any other calls, so we are just in the dark right now

It all depends on what he said when he called. That may have been the call that he was being sent to SEPS or it could have been a call from the USS Red Rover because he was so upset and someone there wanted him to have some encouragement.

No, the recruiter cannot give more info on that. Only her recruit will be able to give her the info.
