For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

PIR
Did anyone whose SR left on June 3rd get their form letter today? I see several got their letter yesterday and have PIR 7/25/214. I have made reservations for 3 different weekends now. We are lucky my husband travels alot and we will be using hotel points so I just make the reservations and will cancel what I will not need. Now I have to wait for the letter to make flight plans. Hope to get a cheap flight so I do not have to use frequent flyer points. I am happy for my son and since he has been out of the house a couple of years and is older I am not having emotional moments. That said I may get teary eyed when I get to hear his voice. He has never been much on writing letters or cards or talking on the phone so I will be pleasantly surprised if I get a letter. He will call but probably not have a whole lot to say. Of course he may talk more than normal. Everyone hang in there. Navy Strong.

My son left June 3rd I have received his box but not the letter, I have read there are several variables that can effect when it arrives for instance P holding, if there were not enough recruits in his division then they go in P holding until they arrive thus setting everything back. there is also a recruit assigned to mail and has to finish his training before the letter can be mailed. I am new at all of this but that's what I have read most that have been thru it said they received their letters about 10 days after, this is day 9 for us so maybe tomorrow.

Mine left 6/5/14 received box yesterday awaiting letter anticipating PIR 8-1/14 but only time will tell.
