I have so many questions. Is it a good idea to fly into Milwaukee airport for my grandsons graduation on 2/3 and then rent a car to the base?  Any hotel recommendations?

here is the link to your PIR group    http://www.navyformoms.com/group/2-3-2012-pir

Thank you for the link

I flew into Midway, took a rental car and stayed at the Ramada. Make sure you google addresses to the airport, hotel, and RTC and take a GPS or rent one with your car

So is it a bad drive from Midway to the base? How long did it take you?

I flew into Milwaukee and then rented a car and drove to Great Lakes.  It was really easy getting in and out of the airport and the drive was easy too.  I used a Tom Tom and it gave me the option to get directions that routed around the toll roads.  It still only took about 40 minutes to get to the Navy Lodge where we stayed.

LoL @ Jenn...YOU used a Tom Tom??  I thought it's name was Babette and I used it LoL

Oh ok - YOU used the Tom Tom!  :)  And yes - her name was Babette, baby.

Hello Alohagirl and Jenn......remember this?!

Too funny about the names...when I rented a car and a GPS I named her "Little Miss GPS".

OK ladies I will take this ball!  My GPS is called Fiona compliments of my first ICU nurse mentor, 27 years ago!  And yes she has a british accent.  Could not find one with a Scottish brouge!  Trying not to pack too soon.  had to get a winter coat today.  Gave mine away:( Didn't think I would need it in Deep East Texas.

That's HILARIOUS! I love that smiley!! Babbette saved us a few times!! Got us to the bestest pizza place in town and the quickest way back to the airport when we were somewhere in BF Eqypt! "Baby u made it". I loves her ;D
Ha,ha...I hear you... LMGPS...saved my behind and made what I dreaded ...fun! I got lost downtown because of construction and kept turning corners and got into a bit of a snit with her. We couldn't keep up with each other. She kept saying, " Recalculating" and I kept telling her to "Catch up or be quiet." She did help me get out if there though! I did a BLOG post about her! BLOG OPS...has a couple of other posts too. My son thinks I'm nuts! I think I did the blog because I don't travel much so PIR was a big experience...new stuff...and I was dreading the driving but knew I would need a car. I ended up with a Chevy Impala and that was a hoot too! My hubby is law enforcement...so how appropriate that I get a cop car...I called it the Bluesmobile! I had an iPASS too...so I was all "tricked out" for my trip! Drove a LOT as my son ended up with two extra days of liberty.
Oh, and most Importantly...LMGPS...found me my Starbucks...for my caffeine fix! LOL
