OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

PIR Weekend Experiences - Post Covid
I am starting this discussion so that you may share your PIR experiences here for us to be able to refer back to. Since PIR - Pass in Review opened back up for guests, I have been intending to put something together for future members to refer to and I am just now getting around to it.
Also, if you wish, go ahead and please share what motel you stayed at, if they had a breakfast, and your thoughts on the motel. If you haven't already mentioned it in your post on the comment wall, you might also include if a shuttle ride was offered, if you used it, and whether or not your Sailor was staying in GL or flying out. Also, share if you attended Sarge's Meet n Greet, and how you traveled to and fro, did you do any site seeing or shopping and where. This information can always be added here in the discussion after you copy your post in the main group if you want to fill in some more details. Thanks!!

Bootcamp0924 - Some of your experiences may be different, especially since you have a Thanksgiving PIR weekend. I always remind people, stay flexible. We share our stories and our experiences here, so you have an idea of what to expect but nothing is ever set in stone, it can always change on a dime! Be sure to come share your story after PIR!

Chipmunk - good reminder about Thanksgiving weekend!
PER RTC FACEBOOK PAGE....(Regarding Thanksgiving)
Divisions set to graduate 11/23 will have the option to spend Thanksgiving day with their family before being shipped to A school. They will not transfer until Friday or Saturday of that week.

Hi! My son's PIR is coming up fast and I have a (probably silly ) question: immediately after PIR when they go back to their ship for their belongings....what are they getting? what do they need from back at their barracks? I understand he is going to want to Eat, take a shower by himself LOL and Nap. We booked a hotel specifically with a hottub for a soak LOL, so I know he will need his navy issued swimsuit and shirt.
I know THIS is most likely a pipe dream but will they get their phones back on PIR day?

So, things have changed with regards to phones since my son was in so I am going to reach out and ask some of those post (Kid in a Box) who might know if they will have their cell phones after PIR or not. My assumption is that those staying in GL and moving over to A school will be given their cell phones, but those flying out will not receive theirs until before they board the bus to the airport.
As far as clothes from their barracks, no, they do not need anything. If you want him to go to the pool, then yes - his PT clothes. And it will depend on whether or not they are to remain in uniform while out and about or they are to change into civilian clothes. Your son will know. My suggestion, is bring him some of his comfy lounge clothes, for him to wear in the motel & if he is able to spend the night. You may want to bring one change of clothes, as he will not likely have his available that he was wearing when he went to BC and even if he does, it may not be washed.

My son did not receive his phone the day of PIR but some did, just depends. It looks like things are done differently for each division, he could have got his phone back that day but it was a bit confusing. So they told him if he took his phone that day he couldn’t bring it back to the base, they gave it to him on Saturday and he was able to bring it back because he was leaving on Sunday. You can ask your son when he goes back to his room to get what he needs for his visit with you. He was told he could not bring anything back to the base if it was not Navy issued, but I have heard other moms say different. Some sailors were able to bring back items that were not Navy issued.

Sandra, Thank you for sharing!
Just a little inside thought from something my son shared with me. There are those who will get away with bringing back to RTC, that which is forbidden during BC. Whether they get caught with it or not is another story. In general, a good rule of thumb is, if they were not allowed to have it during BC, they probably should not have it when they go back to the RTC side before flying out. Therefore, parents need to be prepared to drop off cell phones at the airport before their sailor's departure.
It is possible, that if a sailor is not going to have a parent at the airport, they are being allowed to bring their phones back with them. I don't know, it is just my guess, and we knew of no other option, in 2017, except to take our son's phone & other electronic devices to him at the airport.
