I probably won't receive a phone call from my SR for about another week and a half or so. I've been wondering... How long they are allowed to talk, and I'm also wondering if they are allowed to call more than one person. His dad and I are divorced. Will they limit him to one person?

There's no set in stone rule about how long. My daughter and I got to talk for about 40 minutes! Other SR's in her div had the same amount of time and made several calls during that time.

When my son called, he had a whole hour.  He called me, then his dad, then his girlfriend.  He kept asking me how many minutes have gone by ,so that he had equal time with all of us :)  But I've also heard that some calls may be as short as 10 minutes.  It depends on their RDCs and how much time they give them.

The time can vary - it just depends.  My call with my son was between 20-30 minutes - but when they have to go, they have to go.  He can call as many people as he wants during his phone time.  I can't remember if they are given an idea of how long they have or not.

The amount of time they get and the number of times they get to call is up to their RDC my Sailor was allowed to call home 3 times while in BC not including the 15 phone call when they 1st get there. I received an extra call about 2 weeks before graduation. What a pleasant surprise that was and was allowed to talk at least 30 minutes each time.

About half way through RTC, my daughter was able to call all three of us and talk. It was wonderful to hear her voice. I was on a trip and we spoke for about ten minutes, she then called the house and spoke with my husband for about ten minutes and then called her sister's cell phone and spoke to her for about ten minutes. I hope that this information helps.

Thanks everybody! That's great news!! He's not one to talk on the phone much normally, but I'm hoping the boot camp experience will make him want to call us and share in all that is going on!! :)

By the time my son called, he had so much to say and asked me what did I want to know.  He was happy to hear our voices as much as I was to hear his.  I'm sure your son will too.  Remember to keep your phone close by, you never know when that call will be.  It can be any time of the day, even on weekends.  My son's call came in at 3pm PT.  847 is the area code he will be calling from.

I can't wait to hear my son's voice.  I miss him so much.  He has only been gone 1 week today.  I am counting the days until I see him.  At least he will be able to talk more than 2 mins. like when they first arrived there.  I am so proud of him.

Stephanie... My son just called on Saturday. We got to talk for 19 minutes. I saw post from others that were anywhere from 15- 25 minutes. It is my understanding that they can only make one phone call.

When did your son get to RTC? I was thinking it was around the same time as my son? Must not have been. Mine left on 8/2. Too early yet for a phone call.

Glad you got a call and got some time to talk! I've had my phone on LOUD and with me at ALL times since he left! I told him before he left that I would always have it on and I don't care if it's 2 AM, I will answer, so don't hesitate to call whenever the give him the chance! :)

My son left on 7/18. His call came exactly 3 1/2 weeks after he left. Hoping your call comes soon.

They are allowed to make multiple calls.  My husband is a doctor so when my son got to call I would split the time so he could call his dad at work.  My husband was so happy because he missed several of the early calls.  My son was one of the lucky ones that got several calls, they needed information for his security clearance-the calls were short but he managed to include some info with each call.  Hope you get a call soon.
