Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello, PIR is Pass in Review. It is Boot Camp Graduation. That is one thing you do not want to miss. I am sure you have received the short "I am here" call. Next will be the Box with her belongings and cell phone in. You will then get a form letter. Read that carefully. That will have her division, address, and PIR date. That explains a lot more. Most generally she is allowed 4 guests to PIR. Sometimes it is only 3 depending on many are graduating. After week 3-4 you should receive another phone call. This one you will be able to talk a little longer. Keep your phone on and handy at all times. You never know when she may be calling home with a question that she needs for some paperwork. Welcome Jte1. You are in a good place to learn a lot!! You have 8 weeks to learn a whole new vocabulary and a new lifestyle! It may be rough sailing at times but we haven't lost a mom to bootcamp and we won't start with you! If you scroll down toward the bottom of this page you will find the list of all the new Navy terms you will hear a lot. Also if you have not done so yet you may want to go on Facebook and go to the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page and watch the Bootcamp series to get a feeling for what your daughter is going through. There are PIR pages there as well as a Navy for Moms group so you may want to consider joining both those groups as well as this one. It may be information overload but each group has it's strengths. FB is NOT anonymous like this page so depending on your SR's future job that may or may not matter to you. Either way the Videos are a huge blessing to give you a glimpse as to what BC is like. I wish I'd had them 5+ years ago when my bee went in! I was a lost wreck!

Welcome Jte1, Nice to have you along, These two Ladies have given you some Great info. I'm PhoenixMom and I help out on Boot Camp Moms please come and stop By and meet the Ladies. You will find others that are just beginning as well. You will find much needed Info to everything. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions/Concerns you may have. Reading thru the sites will give you great knowledge, as you read you will find that you will know more than your Daughter as to what needs to be passed and as to what she will be learning. Come stop by and say hello, you will find you are never alone on this site.

I am in the final stretch with my SR his PIR date is Nov 2nd. I have found soo much comfort and support from these ladies here. Plus TONS of info that has been very helpful . I strongly suggest you start planning for PIR weekend now the hotels book up quickly and the sooner you book the better rates you get. I have a Hilton's honors membership *it is free to sign up* and they have a very nice hotel only a couple of miles from the training center. Welcome to the group!

My son also arrived on the 9th, I’m in the same boat! I don’t know about you, but I have been glued to the FB page waiting to catch a glimpse of him. I got his box home tonight. It’ll be a crazy 8 weeks I feel!
