While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Recruit Training (Boot Camp) Just started
My Son is now into his 2nd week at basic training. I read the first week does not count, they are P-Days (dead days) this week starts his 8 week training, so I am confused as to when he will be graduating ? I have received the scripted phone call and his belongings, I am still waiting for the letter. I also received something form the Red Cross, it would have been nice for a heads up, I immediately thought something was wrong. I did not read anything about this notification form the Red Cross on any other web sites so this was a total shock. Can anyone tell me when the letter will arrive? I am trying to plan a trip up there for graduation and I am not sure how many weeks in advance will we know when the date is, and when to make travel arrangements? I can say this has been one of the hardest things I have done. I am a single parent and his father has not been involved in his life since he was 1. so having him leave was very difficult I must have cried for the first week every day. It is getting better, but I cant help but worry, if hes doing well, if it's what he expected? I am a control freak and the fact that I have absolutely no control re my son is very hard to deal with, seems like all the years of being a mom mean nothing once you child is of age, nothing at all prior matters and you suddenly have no say. I hope this feeling of incompleteness and uselessness passes soon.
I am hoping that anyone who has been thru this or anyone that happens to have a son/daughter in training now could give me advise and insight.

Welcome tstanton.....sooo glad you found this site, it was a life saver while my son was in bootcamp...it will get soooo much better when these 8 weeks are over and your pride will be over flowing !!!!! I wrote my son a letter every day, even when I didn't know where to send it, he still tells me how amazing he thought that was !!!! Copy pics on regular paper and write your note on the back they love seeing pics from home...send jokes and news paper clippings for thinks he likes...I saved the box his clothes came back in and used it to put all the momentos from his Navy grad and every thing else I find....We didn't book our flight till about half way through and it was fine !!! We used Sarge for our transportation there he knows what's going on during graduation... Good luck and welcome aboard !!!!

Thank you, I am looking forward to each new step, I am very thankful for this site and everyone's support. I like the box idea very much and I too have run out of things to say..I have written him every day, Just waiting for the address to mail all of them.

tstanton....I forgot to tell you something important that I found worked sooooo well for me....when you send letters write all your questions on a separate piece of paper, leave spaces for him to fill in the answers...it helps answer all of the questions you want him to answer without him taking up any valuable time, then he can just return those papers back in his letters and you get all the answers you need....you can even find a questioner on this web site cause there are some questions you don't even know to ask....good luck :)

Sarge has a taxi service but he is former military and he takes great care of his customers and will answer any questions you have...he also provides a free dinner get together the nite before PIR where he gives lots of info on what to expect ! Once you get PIR date watch for a group to form for that date, that will help with info sharing too!! My sailor is home right now for 2 weeks,,,heaven !!!

Harley03. Just wanted to say hello and you sounded like me a few months ago. You will get your letter probably next week. You will have plenty of time to plan your trip to Chicago. My son graduated march9th and is now in pensacola he is an only child so I know how you are feeling. I cried almost everyday. You are not alone! I worried and waited by the phone for his phone calls every weekend. We got two phone calls on Saturdays and one on a Thursday night. You never really know when the calls when come. Just stay on line with navy4moms the communication is great and all your questions will be answered. Write him 2 or 3 times a week this helps them stay positive. I ask family and friends to send letters also he loved getting mail! get yourself involved in a movie series something to help pass the time before you know it you will be at graduation. I have been to pensacola 2x since graduation and when they first get to their area you can talk almost everyday. It does get better! Hang in there. Please read the poem "Forever Proud" it explains exactly how you feel!

I received the "form" letter and I can see just by my sons printing he has learned something already compared to the chicken scratch it used to be, sad to say but today they have to use the computer for reports and hand writing is just not enforced in school...well goo to see the Navy still is old school.
I was never so happy to see a letter ever!!! can someone tell me if I am allowed to say what division he is in so I might be able to contact other mothers with sons there now too?? I am not sure if that is against the rules, there is a lot to learn.
I also have read 800 and 900 divisions are different than the others, I am looking to see if anyone is familiar with the 900 division and what it is?

Hello my name is Angela if you receive the box you will get your letter a week later and it will have all of the information you need on there graduation day and the names of the people he would like to go inside as well as hotels around the area.
