Well I just got a call my son is not graduating. He missed his push up goal by 5 and not to come to graduation that he won't be there. I couldn't even ask questions he was reading from something and then hung up. I am devastated as I know he is also.
Does anyone know if they get a second chance. Should I cancel everything?

I didn't experience this personally, but I have heard it's a motivational tool. I would hold off as long as you can, before changing plans.

Do not cancel anything yet. He still has time to pass. He will move to the FIT division tonight or tomorrow which is in ship 4. He will get more opportunities to pass his push up test between now and graduation. If he passes he will call you again.

My friend got the same call over the prone float. She received a call Sunday saying he passed and did BST and graduated with his group.

Saying a prayer for your son to pass SailorMom

Sorry to see that. See the info in Battle Stations-21 (BST) and join fit program. He will have 10 chances to pass now that he has been moved to FIT. Some are able to pass the PFA and have BST before PIR and have PIR on time so don't cancel your plans yet.

This happened to a guy from our town who was in my son's PIR group.  The guy couldn't swim which irritated my former swim instructor son.  If the guy had mentioned it when they were in DEP, mine could have worked with him and gotten him swimming before going to Great Lakes.  The poor kids folks were going to fly and canceled their flights.  The kid DID PIR the same day as ours.  Our son tried to locate this guy after the ceremony to have him go to  lunch and chill with us but he couldn't find him.  How I regret it worked out that way.  I sure hope all is well with him now.

I have the same phone call, I am really sad but I have faith the my daughter will graduate with her unit this coming Friday I will not cancel my plans yet in to the last minute if I have too. Prayers for our kids, The Lord our God will lift them up and give them the strength that they need and the confidence to complete this task.

Grumpycarmen97 did you hear from your daughter yesterday?  I was able to speak to my son. I hope you hear something soon!  He was able to retest Friday and PASSED!  I will keep your daughter in my prayers.  It is a stressful time but I know they will do great.  One thing that sticks with me that someone in our group said was their time at boot-camp will not follow them and they learned something the other divisions did not.  How to overcome life's obstacles.

I'm glad you got to speak to him yesterday and glad that he passed the PFA and will be headed to BST and then on to "A" School.

I'm so glad to hear this SailorMom!!!!!   I've been prayin!  :)

Oh, thank the Lord above! I just read these posts and was initially sad and completely horrified at the thought. But now, I will pray, thanking God for his blessings and to watch over, strengthen, and bless all of our dear sailors! I'm so happy to hear the good news!

Oh I am so happy to hear that he passed! That is scary and I am so glad you didn't cancel! So happy for you all!

Ter-Bear, since he has been ASMO'd to a division in a TG with a later PIR date, then that is his new PIR date.
