Jnice211 I know what you going through. Be strong and just be there to support him and get ready to write him everyday and send him cards.  I was the same way when both my son and my daughter left for the military. It does get easier after bootcamp. We are all here for you when you need us!!!!

Thank you! I know you're right and I will be on here crying like a baby. Thank you again for your support I need it!

Hang in there!!  I was so up and down, and my son left on January 10th, so it was so close to being right after the holidays.  Christmas and New Year's was a minefield.  Being happy and sad at the same time was crazy, wondering if it was the last time I'd have him home for Christmas for a long time...  Then he left, and I was trying to keep my chin up, and went into the worst depression of my life.  Got  my first phone call from him about a month later, and since then, I'm my normal self again.  You just have to tell yourself that he's doing a wonderful, brave thing and it's going to make a huge difference in his life.  Easier sad than done, I know, but this site is an incredible support system, and you did a great thing in joining!  We'll all help you through!!  Make the most of the time you have left, it's priceless!  Take care, and lean on us!!  ;)

Hello everyone. My son was just sworn in and left for BC on February 15 and I have been having my moments but thanks to family members and the website i feel better about my son at BC and what he might be experiencing.

I can relate jnice211!  My son doesn't leave for 2 months and I'm a flipping mess!  I can't even look at pictures of him as a little boy or I start to cry.  Today I was at Target and saw a boy around 12 that looked like he did at that age and I had to leave the store!  This is awful!

Thank you all I really thought I was going crazy. Today was so hard I didn't see him today because I know I would have cried. Looking at pictures of him younger is out of the question. Thank you ladies this really does help so much knowing someone understands what you're feeling.

Our daughter left on 2/14. I cried when she told us her ship date had been changed. I asked her what she wanted to do before she left. We had family over and enjoyed a relaxed evening. Her last weekend here was quiet. Went out for brunch and took her for her haircut. I cried again. Donated 11 inches to locks of love. Spent special time with her only. On the day to the recruiter's, I couldn't keep the smile off of my face. She didn't want us to go to MEPS. She wanted to cut from us at home. I respected that. I love her and miss her dearly. I am very proud of her choice to serve our country. You will know what I mean. Your son is the product of a loving parent and remember to keep smiling.

My heart aches for you, for all of us and how we're suffering for our children. :(      I'm coming here to NavyforMoms every time I feel like I'm going to crack. It makes me feel better to try and help others to feel better... I'm praying for you. ((( hugs)))
