just checked our mail today........no letter again.......yes it is torture waiting........My son is Ty, & he's going into aviation structural mechanic......he's 20 yrs old....been out of high school for 3 yrs this June....a young one in his class..like the 2nd youngest.......he was excited about joining the Navy. Had a hard time when he left though..reality set in he was leaving home for good ..........He's a tough kid though & I'm sure he is handling it well........just wish I knew how he was doing...lol   Can't wait till the 20th.....3wks down today......5 more to go......saw on here where one sailor was sent home....feel so sorry for him.... Hope to meet you all at the PIR....will be rooting for our sons & the others of Div 176 to do well in everything.   Will be praying for them all.  You going to the Meet & Greet at the Ramada the nite before?
Hi Tracey, I was pretty close in division, but looks like our SR have the same PIR date.  My son's in Ship 07, Division 177!  Have you received a letter from your SR, if so, when?
I don't know exactly what it all means, but my daughter is in Ship 07, division 188, if they are in the same ship are they togerther?
We got his first letter today!  He said that the chow is great!  He says that he likes his rackmate and that chapel is fantastic!  He passed some kind of physical and the swim test and some kind of written test!  He has lost all of his stationary and had to borrow an envelope from the rackmate (thank you), so he thought he might not be able to write any more, ha, have two stamped envelopes and two sheets of paper in the letter I'm mailing him in the morning!  Not getting out of writing good old mom that easily!  It was SO great to hear from him, so keep looking moms the letters are headed our way.  He also said that he didn't have to have wisdom teeth pulled and he'd been told that he would.  I'm praying for all of our sailor recruits to stay strong and safe, and do well.
And as far as if they are together if they are on the same ship, I wish I knew that answer but I don't.  I'm a total newbie to this navy mom thing myself.  Maybe if we dig around on the bootcamp part of navy for moms we might find an answer.  And I have a friend who's son has been in a few years, so I'll pick her brain.  Hope to get back with an answer real soon.  And I don't as of yet know if I will be going to the meet and greet, but it sure sounds like fun.
Got our first letter yesterday.......said he is doing good, passed all his tests early ....said food is good, making many friends & that they have a good time, at least as much as is allowed....he also said its getting easier ea. wk now that he's getting used to the routine....Told us that he made his bed in one day, more times than he has his whole life........lol   I liked that.....also said he had to do extra PT the other night because he is an Ohio State Fan......guess his DI is from that state north of us.....my son said that that wasn't going to make them beat us ....at least he wanted to tell the DI that.....LOL   He did say they can get letters all the time & to keep writing, they truly love to hear from home!! So glad he's doing OK.....Go Div 176...........

Just got a call from our son's fiancee' saying she'd heard from our son (a call) he said the group was doing well and that he is doing well!  He also told her he believed his is grad and go.  Not gonna say I'm good with that cause I'm really disappointed, I wanted the whole weekend with him, but I'm glad he is doing well and that the group is doing well.   Have any of your heard from your sailors lately?

Got a phone call about 4:30 EST.  He also said that his group is doing really well and close to getting their flag for academics.  He also said talk is that he will be Grad and Go.  He said the first week they got yelled at all of the time but he said it's not nearly as bad now.  He only got to talk for 9 minutes because another group was in there at the same time.  he said there are about 200 phone booths in one room.  I'm so proud and so excited I got to hear from him.  He sounded so good!

Heard from our son today as well, about 4:30 also eastern time...said he got his wisdom teeth out last wk....& that his Division is doing fine.....said they don't get into trouble much at all...said he's made  a lot of friends....really cool guys from all over!!  Thats good to hear....When everyone gets along like that it definetly makes it much easier.....I'm so glad he's in a Div he likes...Also said something about grad & go, but said they tell them that all the time & doesn't always mean graduation day.....we'll see!!   It was just so nice to hear his voice....talked for about 10 min then said wait a minute, then heard some yelling in the background, then he said he had to go........said Love you, Bye........I wasn't expecting to get to talk that long....& my husband & I were both home at the time.....good timing!!  lol  Also said six of them got promoted on Monday....said he thought they were in trouble, called them out in front of everybody giving them a hard time.....said he couldn't figure out what he did wrong.....lol
ok, too many of you have gotten calls and I haven't!  No way I missed a call, my phone is attached to me.  He also wrote a letter dated 4/16 and said he would get to call Wed but didn't.  then Easter passed and still nothing.  I hope everyone is doing fine and mine is ok.  Good to hear you all got good reports though!  Can't wait til 5/20/11!

Got a letter today from our son, said they had a couple of rough days...guess something happened in the restroom & all got in trouble.....IT for an hr & a half....whats IT??   We were hoping maybe a call from him on Easter, but that didn't happen...guess if they get in trouble like this, they can lose priveliges pretty easy.  Hang in there Amy4Nick, hoping you get a phone call soon. Did say, ready to start Hell wk.....what exactly is Hell Week?  New at this....hope all goes well....23 more days.....right?

Just got off the phone with my SR.  They let recruits from the southeastern part of the US call home because of the tornados so they could check on their families.  We only got to talk about five minutes.  He said they are going through hell week riight now.  They did marlinspike, doesn't think they did well.  They do their shooting quals tomorrow.  It was so great to hear from him.
