Don't worry it will get easier.  The first three weeks were torture for me.  I hadn't been away from my SR for more than a week his entire 18 years of life.  After the letters and phone calls started coming in it got alot easier.  Thats when the time starts flying.  This site was my life line and helped me thru.

Thank you, same here, we are such a close family.

Hang in there Marcelle. BC is hard if you have not been separated for long periods of time, and there is very little communication from them. Remember, this too shall pass, and it is time for him to spread his wings and fly (or sail! ;) ) Write him as often as you can, and keep the letters upbeat and encouraging. They love getting news from home, I also included photos I printed right into letters. Some new ones of family and pets, older ones for memories, etc, favorite comic strips. My son said it helped him knowing life back home went on as he remembered it

Peace!

I felt the same way last evening. We watched our daughter swear in at 10 Am. She was at the airport at 11 and unfortunately her flight was delayed until after 6 pm.  We were able to text her until she boarded. I got a text at 7:30 saying they landed...then a call from her cell around 8 and I couldn't understand anything other than the word airport due to a bad connection.  I was a nervous wreck because I didn't know what was happening.  Finally around 9:30 lastnight she gave me the 30 second im here, your getting a box with my stuff gotta go while sobbing. I was relieved to know she was where she was supposed to be but it broke my heart to hear her so upset.

Hi, Marcelle! First of all, let me give you a great big bear hug, which always seems to help when we are feeling a little sad. Absolutely normal to feel like its the end of the world when your SR leaves for BC. I went through the exact thing with my daughter ten (10) years ago and I actually cried for most of her BC days (actually continued to cry through her deployments, LOL!). However, nothing beats the pride you feel during PIR and watching them in uniform. Remember, it's tough, but you will be one proud Momma! Also, drop on in to this website... you will definitely receive much encouragement, love and understanding (there was a similar page way back with some wonderful ladies who ALWAYS helped me and gave me the best 'virtual' hugs ever!).

Wish you and your SR the best!

Hugs to all of you! I know this is rough. But I promise they will be ok. Most of them are even enjoying boot camp, believe it or not. It is like when you first dropped them off at day care...who took it the hardest, the child or the parent! Odds are, it's the parent. Your children are awesome, and I am so honored that they choose to defend our country, our flag, our rights. God Bless them all!

I just got the Call........any one else, son got to Ohare at 6:30PM, just received "The call"..

Im glad you finally got it..I bet you feel a bit of relief now =] Hugs to you!!

Thank you so much, I am so happy I joined N4M. The last 36 hours have been unbearable. I find myself logging on and talking to everyone, and truly I feel better. Thank you, and God Bless all of you and our Sons/Daughters.

Hi Marcelle, my son left on the 13th as well.  I received the kid box late morning, so if you haven't received it should be on its way.  I put up a note to FedEx to leave the package.  Now I hope the letter comes as fast.

got the box today!!! Next..............the letter!!! :(

My son left on Tuesday as well. I got the "I'm here" call at 12:37 a.m.!!! They didn't leave till 6:30 that evening. Still waiting on my "box". Hope it comes Monday and then anxiously waiting for the "form" letter so we can make our plans to go to graduation!!!!
