While I am sad to see him go, I am very proud of his decision. I would like to meet other moms whose child or children have left for bootcamp at hte same time.

Hi psmom3 - my son left yesterday and stayed overnight in a hotel - he's flying out of Columbus, OH shortly to go to Great Lakes. He still has his cell phone with him so he's able to keep me updated via text for now.I am extremely proud of him as well, but am also very sad to see him go. Where is your son flying from?

My son arrive at bc last night as well. There is another mom in the DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in January group whose son arrived last night as well. It was nice to have someone waiting for that phone call as well. They both made it safe, as I'm sure yours did. I am hoping today will be a better day. I just kept telling him I loved him and I'm proud of him.

Where are you from? I am in Michigan. Sounds like ours will have their PIR at the same time.

My daughter stayed at the hotel on 1/9/12, and arrived at bootcamp yesterday. We received her call saying she arrived around 8pm last night. How are you holding up? The night she went to the hotel, I had a hard time. I break down from time to time when something hits me. I am just trying to stay busy. I am very proud of her decision and I know she will do great, I really think I am sad for selfish reasons. Feel free to message me anytime if you need to chat.

I am in Connecticut. So far away from him physically as well. Everyone says he will do great. I on the other hand am terrified he won't, and I know this is what he wants above everything. After anxiously awaiting the phone call, now I pray I won't get another for 3 weeks. The box, form letter, and real letters are what I look forward to now. My son made a call to me from MEPS Tuesday night, while I was on the phone with his recruiter. He left a voicemail, that I intend to keep until I see him, just so I can hear him say "Mom" whenever I get too upset. Crazy, I know, but I think it may help me get through this.

I am the crazy mom that stayed up every night waiting for him to get home from work no matter what time that was 1:00, 2:00, whenever, just so I knew he made it home safely, before I went to bed. I guess I have to convince myself now that NOT hearing from him is how I know he is safe.

My son also arrived at Great Lakes last night from Houston, TX. I got the phone call around 10:00. It was very brief, but still so good to hear his voice!!!

My son left Monday. Do you know his ship and div? My son is 7/080.

How did you get his ship and division so quickly!! Where is that information?

His recruiter emailed me his information yesterday.

Ugh!!! That's what I was afraid of! Oh well, I guess I can give it a shot, but I think I'll be waiting on my form letter for any information :(

I know exactly what you mean. My son's recruiter has not been good at that for us either:( From the beginning of my son signing up we have been lost wondering what, when, how and never got the answers! Very frustrating. I don't even have an email address for mine! Oh well, just the way it goes sometimes I guess! I am anxiously waiting for my letter to arrive so I will have his information! By the way, my son left out Jan 9th from Dallas.

Hello all!!  Thanks, psmom3 for setting up this group!  What a comfort to know we were all waiting for "the call" yesterday.  What a long day, huh? (Hi Ericsmom!!)  I'm in Las Vegas and although my son is 23, he's still my little boy.  What a wonderful journey we're all on.   I hope we can all meet at PIR.  Let's make the best of this adventure.  Thank heavens for the site, and now this group!  :)
