It has come to my attention from some other Mom's that their SR mentions someone in their division that receives little or even no mail.  I teach in an elementary school, so approached our 4th grade teachers about this predicament.  They would like to use this as an opportunity to teach the students about writing letters with a real life use for them instead of just something made up.

So, I need everybody's help.  Ask your SR for the names of any recruit in their ship/division that receives little or no mail.  Then, send me a message (DON'T POST THE NAMES ON HERE) with the name and address.  Be sure to include the PIR date so we can be sure they get them before they leave for A school. The students will begin writing them the last week of March.  I was hoping it could be sooner, but we have Spring Break coming up and they are in the middle of another project right now.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Teachermom, that is so SWEET of you to think about that.

HI TeacherMom,  I love this idea! As a matter of fact, my daughter came home with cards that her 5th grade classmates made for her brother and I have sent them out to him.  In the letter I asked him if there were any recruits who were not receiving letters so we can make more or send encouragements. I will most certainly message you with any names if I get a response from my son. Thanks for doing this!  These recruits need lots of support and encouragement from the outside world.  Thanks again!  Cathie

Hi my name is Ivory,  i'm a newbie. I love this site it's great!! I think that's a wonderful ideal Teacher Mom. GOD BLESS!!

Hi, my daughter is in Penn State University and they have a group whose only task is to write to military personnel wherever they are.  So, I can also send that group, names and addresses and they will send them a letter as well.  I'll ask my son for any names from his division and will inbox you as well.

TeacherMom...I will be sure to mention this to my son when I write him tonight. It is fantastic idea!

Hi Teachermom, I work with a teacher who would love getting her class to write letters to these recruits. I will talk with her tomorrow.

Perfect!! Will ask asap! Thank you for doing this :) How lonely that must be for them...

Please keep sending me names with ship/div address and PIR date.  You would be AMAZED at how many SR have nobody at home that cares enough to write them.  I was astonished.

Oh this is such a good idea. My mother actually teaches 3rd grade, and she decided this last week when my husband left for bootcamp that she was going to do basically the same thing. She is having each kid in her class write a letter and just sending them to my husband to pass out to all of his fellow SRs in his division. So everyone gets one from her class. I am glad that someone else has this idea as well! Best wishes and goodluck!
