Who else has a SR leaving for GL this week?

My son is at the hotel right now. We will go see him take his Oath in the morning and spend a bit more time with him before he leaves.

Just got my form letter. My son even wrote a 2 sentence message on the back of it! Wow, it doesn't take much to make a Navy mom happy, does it? I am so excited to finally have an address and to know that he is doing okay and liking it. He is Ship 12 Div 271. His PIR is August 31. Counting the days!!

Ya, I also recieved my form letter. I got an "i love you" at the bottom and was thrilled. My son is Ship12 Div 269. I am so proud of him. I had called his recruiter on Monday and got his adress. I mailed like 11 letters to him. Then I got this letter from him and realized the recruiter did not have the correct address. I called the number on the form letter and they informed me that he probably wont get those letters for 3 weeks. I urge everyone to wait on the form letter for the address. Sometimes the recruiter doesnt always have the right address. I hurried and wrote a 3 pager and sent it today. I just dont want him to be the only one that doesnt get a letter on Sunday.

Glad you got the letter finally!! Still waiting on mine with that same fear that you've already realized...what if the recruiter had the wrong info!!

At least I know he'll get them eventually, but I've got plenty to send out when I do...and have already sent 3 so far.

Thanks for letting us know!
L.

Since your recruiter was wrong with the address maybe he will be wrong that your son won't get your letters for 3 weeks. My fingers are crossed for you and I will say a few prayers for you tonight that your son gets your letter by this weekend.  I did hear that recruits can get mail 6 days a week, they just aren't able to write except on Sundays.  If someone knows differently please say so....I don't want to be thinking my daughter has gotten my letters already if she won't get them till sunday.

Okay still no letter this is so sad I cant stand it......so many of you who SRs left and arrived on July 2nd have received theirs and then I read of ships were being moved due to illness ...and now I am worried.

Don't worry...(yeah right!!) OK...worry a "normal amount" but remember....they're in good hands now.

Just breathe, pray if that's something you do, and be confident and proud...and carry kleenex at all times!!LOL

Keep us posted...and remember to write!

I got my SR's box on Monday, but still no form letter. I really hope he wrote something on it.

Also, question, do you guys think that everyone from the week of July 2 have the same PIR date?

when ya'll are receiving your SR's boxes, are you finding a thick stack of papers in there?  I am hoping they didn't end up in my child's box by mistake :-(

Kyle's mom...I rec'd my box on Tuesday, and it had not only his clothes, but his start guide (DEP info), his orders, his documents (SS card, copy of birthcertificate, etc.) and some other things....I thought he'd need that stuff since the recruiter told us, and we'd had so many issues with his security stuff (he's a nuke) but I guess not...so I'm hoping that it's all good. Otherwise, we'll hear from them about it.

Lexievelyn, I'm hoping so...that they'll have the same PIR date, but like you, no letter yet, so I have no way to plan or even write (since I'm not too confident in the recruiter's info since he didn't even know he had access to that information (newbie...just sayin') )

Bigskyjackson, welcome in! And I imagine that you're a little more prepared than some of us, but yes, I'm sure it's harder....you have more concerns, more questions and fewer answers...plus she's your baby!

For all of us out here, and I believe it's a motto we'll have to embrace, "NO news is good news...." hard though it is...I know for myself, it's killing me not to be able just to text him...even that single letter response..."K"...would make me smile at this point....but alas, I will have to be content know that he's made a great choice, and is on his way to his future...as all of our SR's are!

Hang in there folks...we'll make it!!

ok this helps, Kyle is a nuke as well and these are the same docs that I found in box.  I did ask Kyle if he knows Charlie yet, looks like they are in same group :-)

Kyle's Mom, There was nothing in my son's box except what he took with him, his flight information, etc. No letter or anything that looked like that.

lexievelyn8179, It all depends on the needs of the divisions. It would make sense if they did, but I've read that those arriving at the beginning of a week can be the last to fill up the ships/div from the previous week.

bigkyjackson, I can not imagine having 3 kids and all 3 of them being in the military and in 3 different branches at that. You must have nerves of Steal by the time your daughter gets to the fleet. My oldest (26 yo step) is out in the world..no college, no military and my youngest (6yo) has informed us that she is going to college...that is the same thing my SR said until he did really well on the ASVAB as a jJr in high school....he signed his first Navy contract before he started his Sr year of high school, so I'll believe it when I see it.
