My son left yesterday. Got the scripted call at 12:30 PM last night. After that I cried for about 2 hours before I fell asleep. Today it looks like I had a wild night. LOL I sure hope this gets easier. This is the second time I have ever experienced this type of loss other than losing my mother. That is the only thing I can compare it to. Trying to stay busy, and this site helps keep me occupied reading, and learning all I can.

Countrymom I'm so sorry you are feeling this way, but believe me all us mothjers have gone throught the same thing I had to chuckle because when my son called with the scripted call it was 11:30 at night and I did the same, my eyes were so swollen OMG. it gets better. I posted a few days ago the processing of the weeks as they go by so that way you know exactly what he is doing. you will hear from him again in about the 2nd or 3rd week. keep your head up!
Thanks Ladies. I'll make it, just never expected it to be this way. Attygirl123 - twins?? Oh Lord. I'll be praying for you. I had read where some calls come 2 or 3 days after. I was praying that didn't happen to me. I'm so sorry. I hope it comes soon.
I dont think there is anything that prepares us as Mothers to be able to handle what we do. My son is A Sailor now attending A school in Great Lakes, but it is still hard thinking he is still there alone. But the stress level has calmed down a little. Cry its ok....whatever that will make you feel better you have to, dont keep it boggled up, we all have gone thru this...I know I was a mess..especially when I recieved the box and his gradution pics at the same time. so know there is alot of info and very knowledgable Ladies with answers so dont hesitate.
Pheonixmom- Thank you so much. Oh i'm not bottling it up. HAHA I am a snotty mess. I have to go back to work next week. I just didn't think they would appreciate the mess I am right now. I sincerely appreciate it.
There is nothing wrong with that......Keep strong.
Awww...mine just left today...it is a very emotional day...keep your chin up...can't wait to get the 1st letter-that's what's going to get me through the next couple of weeks...now, am going to have a good cry and take a nap...picture Day is at my school tomorrow...sigh...no puffy eyes, lol...NMITH
Keep plenty of ice handy, Have a good nap.
I am so sorry you had such a bad night. My son just graduated this past Friday. I remember the first few weeks that he was gone. It was such a sad time. Soon though, the letters will start and then you'll get a couple phone calls and before you know it, he will be graduating boot camp. Let me tell you, September 15th was one of the proudest moments I can remember! My son says that he honestly enjoyed it. He said that yes, there were parts that he hated, but he would do it all again. He made a couple really, really good friends who we got to meet and hang out with this past weekend. It was so fun to hear them tell stories and reminisce about the previous 8 1/2 weeks. It was a really great thing! Hang in there! It is so sad to let your baby go, but he isn't gone forever. You will see him again and you will be so proud of him!
