I know I have seen this question posted before and now I cannot find it.

My son has a PIR of 06/Jan/2012. We have 3 family members that are veterans and are wanting to attend. If I am not mistaken, from what I have gathered, they would not be counted as one of the 4 needed on the PIR list.

My question is, if they are to attend, how do we go about "proving" so to speak that they are vets, seeing that they no longer have their military ID's.

I am hoping that someone can help me get a better understanding as to how to do this, before my SR places them as one of the 4 on his list.

Thank you in advance!

Active military personnel, retired military, and veterans do not have to be listed on the access list to attend if they have current military ID. They must show proper military ID and must arrive with someone on the access list or walk in. They do not have to be in uniform.  (Remember that not all veterans have military ID and if you have a veteran who does not, s/he would have to be on the access list or would have to wait in the Visitors Center until the others are seated to be allowed in.)

Since the January 6 PIR only has 9 Divisions, it is a very good possibility that all of the extra guests will be allowed in.

I am interested in this, i am a veteran, but i do not have a id card anymore, just my papers.   I Think there will only be 3 of us going to PIR in June, but i am not sure if his dad will go (he is also a veteran)   how many do you get?  we are a large family, but the little kids will probably not go!

Four seats are guaranteed per recruit; however, children 12 years old and younger do not count against the four-guest maximum, nor do military personnel, retired military, and veterans with current military ID. The SR will finalize the names on the access list about a week before PIR.

BTW, you may want to join the appropriate group below to connect with others with loved ones leaving for the RTC at the same time.

You still have to be on the list if you are a vet, ONLY retires with a retired ID card (not the spouses) and Active duty miltiary with a current ID card are allowed in.

For those that don't know there is a difference between Vets and retires...Vets left the mitliary before retiring, so they do not have a military ID card and are not allowed on the base, and do not get the bennies that go with having an ID card (MWR, NEX, ect...)  So reality Vets are looked at as civilians as that is what they are.  Retires...have an ID card that allows them all the bennies and they also get a paycheck ever month from the military...they are retired from the military.  Acitve duty is just that...active duty.

So please stop posting vet's with current id cards...vets do not have military ID cards...they may have a VA ID for their medical if they have a disablity but that is something different and again they DO count on the number of people for PIR.
