My son left on May 30th.  I got The Quick Call I knew it was coming, thank goodness very weird 2:30 in the morning.  I called his recruiter for his address I realize it may not be reliable because changes happen, so I am waiting for the form letter.  I have been watching You Tube and PIR ceremonies and comments.  The logistics of flying in and getting tickets and hotel are for a minute overwhelming.  I think the more you read the more you will find out from other people and their experiences... So Helpful Thank You! All so new and quick!

Congrats to your son.   Though down the road I recommend going in two days ahead of PIR as to get acclimated on the area.

Thank you I think that sounds reasonable but I'm not sure about work schedules yet may have to fly very early the day before we intend to fly and then rent a car it seems easiest. Still thinking it out. I did not receive form letter yet so best to wait.

My son left on the 30th, too. Does that mean their PIR will be on July 26th? Running to the mailbox everyday waiting on the form letter ...

Hi  I am mentally planning for the July 26th however, I am sure we should wait for the form letter and hope for the best to be on time. It seems that stuff can happen of course and delay things, I am hoping if all goes well I will see you at graduation!  lol. Keep me posted when you get the form letter, maybe this week?

I’ll let you know when it comes! Certainly hoping for this week!

Great! Thanks!

Hi. My son left on the 30th, too. Hope you will post when you get your form letter. Agree there is lots of good info on this site. It really helps. Take care!

Peekachu-- Welcome to BCMoms.  You are wise to wait for the form letter.  Yes there is a ton of info and it can be overwhelming!! For now you should get yourself familiar with the first 4 videos since that will get you through the first "real" phone call!  Once you get the Form letter then you can worry about trying to make travel arrangements and getting in and around Great Lakes.  I wouldn't watch too many PIR's though.  (You want to save some excitement for yours!)  A few yes but not all of them.  We are here to answer any question you have.

Shoes2BeHappy-- That would be about right but remember it can be as few as 8 Fridays or as long as 10 Fridays assuming everything goes to plan.  The only way to know for sure is to wait for the form letter.  It should come this week.

Thank you so much... I will let you know when I get the letter and we can talk about whether to go to Great Lakes area 1 or 2 days prior to PIR.  Not sure if I can fly in and have enough time to get tickets and settle in hotel only 1 day before.

My son left on May 30th too. We missed the quick call! He called earlier in the evening from the airport and said that he was told to call and let us know he was there and safe because he may or may not get a chance to call later. We waited up for a while and just assumed he wasn’t calling. The next morning there was a missed call from him at around 2 or 2:30. Frustration! But I think I’m glad I didn’t have to hear him getting yelled at in the back ground. Lol. We’re still anxiously and impatiently waiting for a letter.

Boy Mom-- Welcome.  There is a ton of information in the files for you to read and we are happy to answer your questions as best we can.  Make sure you follow the thread on the Main Boot Camp Moms  page too.  No question is too silly to ask and we are here to get you through this too.
