For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

What did your SR say in their form letter?
I know that our SRs are probably feeling a little like fish out of water. But I wanted to give some of the new moms a glimpse at what they are experiencing and how much they have grown.
My son was not a wimpy kid but he is very laid back and comical. He has a certain ambition to move forward and not be like his biological father. LONG STORY!!
As the only son of a single mom, he has always been my rock. And he still is. He left on January 9, 2012 and for the first week I did nothing but cry. I cried when I smelled his shower gel, cologne and his dog. I cried when I would walk past his room and make breakfast since we shared that together every morning in the last three weeks. I cried when I saw his pictures and held my grandson because he looks just like his uncle as a baby. I cried and cried and cried until I had rubbed my eyes raw. I still cry but each day it gets easier. I even cried when I got the letter in the mail. But this was different, they were happy tears! So with that said, I do understand and feel how you feel. But maybe my son's words will give you a bit of a smile and a hope to hang onto until you get your first communication outside of the "kid in a box without the kid".

My Petty Officer is letting me write you on the back. SO FRAME THIS SH*T.
Wanted to tell you I love you and miss you very much. I wanted to quit so badly yesterday but disappointing you would crush me. I can do this, I will do this. And when I get back, I'm going to take you out to where ever you want to go. Tell everyone I'm fine here. The caviar is a little bland and my gold toilet is a little cold but I think I'll manage. I love you, Mom. I gotta go now.
P.S. Spoil Athena!!!!!
(Athena is his Rhodesian Ridgeback dog. They were inseperable and now she sleeps in my bed!!! UGH!! A 60 lb mutt that snores and passes gas!! Sure, Jess, I'll spoil her! )

I just wanted to let you know this does get easier. Stay with the family you will come to know and love on this page anf their division page, it makes life easier. We are now and forever part of the Navy family. RTC is the hardest and then after you will get more contact. PIR is a must see, For those of us that are so pround PIR makes your heart swell 10x more with pride. It will get better and you will always have us.

My daughter says that I am addicted to this page. :) I am so happy to find that there are people here that understand how it feels when their loved one goes into the service. I can't wait until PIR in March!!! If I swell anymore with the pride at his decision to do this and his dedication to our family, I think I will burst!!!

I too am addicted...always checking - it has helped me ask questions that I wouldn't have thought of, it has answered questions that I have, it has given me ideas, and it has made me realize that I am not alone and that somebody elses kid is going through the same thing!!! Its a good addiction!

Thats just great! I love it! Mine wrote that it is tough, but he is going to tough it out because he wants us to be proud of him. - now I hadn't cried at all, from when he signed up, to when he left. I have been one big smile - I couldn't be more supportive. But, hearing that, I cried...doesn't he know how proud of him we already are????

I know how you feel, Jackie!!! I tell him all the time in the letters and before he left how amazing he is and how proud of him I feel. I can't wait until PIR!!!

That was an awesome letter. Thanks for sharing. My son graduated on November 23rd but those weeks at bootcamp are special to me. I'm a single mom and he's my only son too and we are tight! so I understand where you are coming from. I didn't cry as much as I expected too but your son's note made me tear up. Congratulations on having such a great kid and welcome to this ride!

Jenn, I am so thankful that I have him in my life. He is so wonderful as a son and amazing to see his growth and know that I had a big part in making him who he is. Congratulations on your Sailor's graduation. I am so proud that my son is a part of our country's Navy!!
