OK, maybe this is an unrational fear but what if my son doesn't "pass" boot camp? Does anyone fail and get sent home?

If it makes you feel any better, I worry about this also :(
hey it appears our kids are in the same division. Have you heard anything from yours yet?
My son had kids in his division that had not passed for one reason or another and were just moved to a different PIR date. They did have to repeat BC however.
They've been trained to do all the stuff they are tested on in BS. They work as a group to get through it, so will help each other think stuff through. I believe if they were acting as the leader for one portion and did something really obviously wrong, like opening a door without "feeling it for heat" during a "fire" they could fail, but I can't believe the rest of the group wouldn't say "Wait! Feel the door!" or whatever. If someone fails BS they would make them go through it the next day, and could pass but not be able to walk in graduation. I read of one person who had to sit in the stands, but at least they graduated.
My son said BS was a blast, and he'd go through it again. He loved the on the spot challenges and his group worked really well together. Hope that helps!
what would everyone recommend as a gift to our son for graduation coming up on the 6th of April

This question has come to mind for me as well. Also, is there a way we can find out if our SR is having problems with anything in particular?
They usually will tell you in their letters if they are having difficulty passing something. It is usually the PFA that they have the hardest time with. If they have problems with the tests they will make them have a study buddy to help them. BS haven't heard of someone not passing.
I am worried sick since my son said he missed the first inspection on bunks because he was at medic with the nukes. He told us he was struggling with bed making and folding. Today his letter said he failed the bunk inspection the next time. He says he will be able to pass it and graduate on time, but I am very worried over bed making! He said he made 5 on physical part. I sure hope he gets help.
Hi Lady Hamilton, my feelings of what if, are strictly related to health issues that kept him out of the navy a year and a half ago. All of those health issues were wiped clean and he was able to get in this year. My worrying has nothing to do with his lack of ability or a lack of confidence in him, just a small worry in the back of my mind that the health issue will return :( I have total faith and confidence that he will be able to do the physical and mental parts of boot camp.
I really didn't think I was being negative with my comment. Just expressing to someone else that I had those same thoughts.
Mom2131, don't worry about it. Everyone goes through such a range of emotions through the 8 weeks and if you have never had a child go through boot camp, you don't know what to expect. I had a lot of concerns when my daughter was in boot camp, mainly because when I read her letters, she would express concern of her division getting it together and would say things that would worry me. Every day that I wrote her I would put at least a dozen times, YOU CAN DO THIS, YOU GOT THIS! SO PROUD OF YOU! I asked the question once about a division not being able to graduate and someone calmed my fears and said they had NEVER heard of a division not making it through battle stations. They will have them do it again until they all pass! The only recruits that didn't make it to graduation were because they didn't pass their PFA or they were injured. The Navy wants EVERYONE to graduate, so NO worries! So, they will work with them until they do! :) Your son WILL DO IT!
