Hi KindredSpirit no Ma'am you arent, it is just they changed the form letter process. I will put the post for you to read ok and if you still have questions I will do my best to answer.

here is some info on changes to Form letter that was put togeher by Hooyahsuzy great information.

When to Expect Your Form Letter

Hi KindredSpirit, I have been through the first 3 weeks of basic already. It seemed So Long with no communication. My daughter's letter with address took just over 2 weeks. Was tough for any mother but it will come when you most need it. Plus it took another week for her to get the first response from us. She sounded sad in a letter wondering why it was taking so long. I wrote her every day since she left so she now is like YES a letter nearly everyday!! Hang in there

Thank you both so much. I feel so stupid...like I just don't know which end is up right now. It is such a help having all of you to lean on.

Don't ever feel stupid, that is not the way to feel, it is hard. that I can tell you by experience. when your Son/ Daughter is away and you have no clue as to what is happening, if they are ok anything that you feel is legite, that is the Mothers in us, that will never go away. Just stay positive and keep busy, It is easier said than done, but right now you have to think positive and you will need the strength to carry for your Loved One and yourself. keep posting if you need to speak and vent it is ok.

Also KindredSpirit they have to train someone to do the mail process, so maybe in the 2nd 3 week you should be recieving something. Stay Positive, and like Roberta mentioned the first call and letter may be sad because they are missing you just as much.  I know the communication part is really hard to deal with but it is a test for them and for us.

It is a bit early to expect the form letter.  You will get the box first (About week 2) then the form letter (week 3) then regular mail starts a week or 2 after that.  They only have time to write on Sunday so mail goes out on Monday and you will get it on Wed-Friday.  I know it is overwhelming and confusing at first.  Ask questions.  That is why we are here.  Read EVERYTHING! It helps and know that no news (As hard as it is!!) is Good news!!  This page may help you get a feel for what your SR is going through and Knowledge is power!! http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433

KindredSpirit-My heart goes out to you. Weve been in your shoes. My son started BC SEP n graduated Nov 9,2017. One thing that experience taught us both is to prepare for the days or weeks we might go without being able to talk or text.  No newsnis good news. Everything has it's purpose starting from BC. Both my son and I used the time, both in BC n now, we couldn't communicate to pray. Asking Him to give us the courage n peace to trust in Him to carry is through this trail. In the end it has brought us closer together and strengthen our bond. Stay strong n trust in God. I'll keep u in my prayers. GOD BLESS.
