Have a great time in GL with your son Marion!
My G said he "sucks at running" and has an 8 or so mile run today, so if anyone can silently say a quick prayer for him, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks! Have a good Friday everyone.

Well, I love to read and catch up with everyone! This is such a great group! My sailor is doing well, my cold is getting better, my other three kids don't have too much homework, and tomorrow is FRIDAY :-) Whats not to be grateful for!
What a kind and wonderful thing to do: invite sailors for a home cooked meal and a place to go, especially on the holidays. You guys are the best!

Anita, so happy to hear that J is on his way! (hey I made a rhymn LOL) and that you've connected with other moms in Riverines.

B is doing well in pre-buds. Yesterday was the first conversation we've had since BC where he wasn't either busy doing something else or trying to hear over the noise.

Happy Friday Eve everyone!
Tee

It's so good hear how everyone's sailor (and family) is doing. Being together at BC was very special.

I miss the excitement of boot camp too! It was wonderful planning the trip and getting the letters, and waiting for the I am a sailor call! Almost every day my other three kids and I would sit and write G a letter!
He actually calls a lot. I really appreciate it. He is only 18, and doesn't have a girl friend, and since my husband passed, he is especially close to me and his sibs. I can tell he is homesick and misses his "childhood", so maybe that is why he calls at least once a week. Whatever the reasons, I'll take it!

Here it is Monday morning again. I also miss the regular letters from boot camp. B has a cell phone but he never calls. I'm really working on not being upset about that. I know it's a "letting go" process, but by golly it's hard!! I think I need one of those Lattes, at least a double! I hope everyone has a great week and hears from your sailor. I'm so thankful to have all of you to share this journey with. You're my sisters.

My Sunday was good, thanks for asking Marion! I love reading everyone's comments because you all write from the heart! Wish I could have met some of you when I was there in August for the PIR. Back to work tomorrow.
Take care everyone! Good night

I have to add my 2 cents: people just don't get it! My son joined with a buddy. None of his friends family showed up for their swearing in or PIR. Luckily, his gf came and I made sure he got big mom hugs! But, I've heard from family members of mine, "what's the big deal, it's only Boot Camp" and "you didn't see him that much before he left" and "he's a grown man, you have to let him go." blaa blaa blaa blaa! His own father (we're divorced) says "I don't need to hear from him, he'll be busy for the next few years!" I don't understand why they don't understand, but I guess it's just they haven't been where we are. Guess that was more like 3 cents, huh. I see my son every day in my mind, as a baby, as a toddler, as the man I saw last at PIR. He's always inside, but that makes me miss his presense so much...

I haven't written anything in awhile, but I do read all of your messages every day. Yes, the time DOES go by fast, and no, we do not want them living with us when they are 40! So, I guess that's the thought that helps us keep that balance - that we miss them, but happy for where they are and what they are doing.
I can't even imagine seeing any of G's baby clothes, when I miss him so much! Just seeing his baby pictures are tough! I feel like we are so lucky to be moms and have these loving feelings towards our kids. My own parents thought I was nuts to miss work and class and spend the $ to go to Illinois for my son's PIR....but I would not have missed it for the world! What a difference in perspective and what is really important in life.
My Navy baby is still in Great Lakes, in pre BUDs. He has tough days sometimes, but takes it one day at a time, and has made some good friends. He says he has a huge painful blister on his foot and has a one mile run on Fri!
I think he will need some prayers!
Love you all! Its Thurs! Only two more days till the weekend!

Lynn, I heard it was clean, reasonable, and has a kitchenette. Also is very close to the Base. I think I remember free WiFi too. Didn't hear any negatives. I hope everythiing last weekend turned out OK.
