Justin's Mom, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm posting here because I have a lot of other Navy Mom friends who are going through the same thing, especially when their son comes home for a visit. ( Your experience seem to be pretty extreme though, since Justin is your only one.) Just about every mom I know is disappointed and feels hurt then they come home. They don't spend anytime at home, seem distant and cold, spend ALL their time with friends or even OTHER relatives. They are curt, sometimes rude, and generally not they young men we knew before. It seems so common, that I think it must be normal. I don't understand it, unless it's because they have had to deal with missing home for so long that they shut out their feelings for,who else? MOM, the one who means HOME to them.
My advice is to try to ignore it as much as possible. Send him cards, emails, and stuff just like you've always done. Act like nothing is wrong. Then when he finally thinks "Oh, I kinda miss mom," he won't be thinking, "I don't want to call because she's going to be mad at they way I've acted." Also, my dear friend, you need to take care of YOU. I know you miss him so much, but you have to have a good life yourself. There are always ways to find those who really NEED your attention. One of my Cali NM friends has some little girls w/o grandmas over to her house every now and then to bake and decorate cookies. She "adopts" kids who WANT attention and love from her. When her daughter didn't want to be around her, he found a girl who needed attention and spent time with her. Before long her daughter came back around and now she has them both. Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to hopefully say something to help ♥♥

Hi fellow PIR moms, I haven't posted here for a long time but see some you on FB. Blake is in Jacksonville waiting for C Schoold to start. He'll still be training for Aircrew for another six months or so. Such a long time to not be doing a job, but so it is. He does get to come home for Christmas, YEAH! Other than 3 days he was here when my dad passed away it's been a year since I've seen him.

Oh my gosh! I know I can't believe it has been a year! I am sitting here back at work after vacation, just getting teary eyed remembering all the emotions of the past year. My sailor Gabe has been injured twice in training and is still in San Diego, and just started back on training after a medical roll back. Keep him in your prayers! I llove hearing from moms in this group! Hope all is well with everyone! Happy Friday!

Last year at this time...what were we all doing? I was driving to Great Lakes from Madison WI. We left home on Tues and visited my Aunt & Uncle b/f PIR. I had B's requested treat in the rental cal w/me and was so excited to see him I could have burst. I was worried about making the Meet & Greet at Flanagans on time b/c we had trouble with travel b/f. But everything was going smooth.
