Hi Veleda, 12 weeks sounds like the Navy's "hurry up and wait!" I'm going to order one too. Thanks Lynn.

I have been trying to PM you all day and for some reason they are not showing "sent". But if they have been sent and you received 27 copies of the same message I apologize.
Happy Friday everyone!
I miss my sailor!

Hi everyone!
Marion, I am like you I have a HUGE pile of paperwork to do today - AND try to teach! lol My sailor heard awhile ago that he could come home at Thanksgiving, then later that he couldn't, and just in the last few days, that maybe he can! I am cautiously optimistic, but like everyone else, I wish the Navy would make up its mind! He doesn't know anything about Christmas.
Gosh you are right about remembering PIR! That was an exciting wonderful time! And boy the time sure does fly! All my babies are growing up! I wonder how much different my sailor will look when I see him next! My youngest are 7, and I thought they were small, but yesterday I got to hold another teacher's 7 MONTH old! Remember those days??? Have a good weds everyone!

If you're new to the military like me (no father, brother, uncle in any military), it can be a big shock that you are really their "property" once you sign on the dotted line. I did learn this from my ex-husband, who is a Viet Naum Vet from the 70's. He wasn't drafted, but went through twists and turns like crazy during his Navy years. I have to say that he always speaks fondly of those years now, even though I'm sure they were hard at the time.

desertdweller, I can see how he would be upset about that! Hopefully he can find out more, and there will be more options. I'm sure he will appreciate having you to vent to when he is ready. Hang in there! It's so hard when they are hurting and we can't be there to help.

Does it have to do with the bonus he gets for finishing A school? That doesn't seem like it would have anything to do with where he gets stationed....? Of course the Navy is a government entity, and that sometimes says it all, AAAHHH!!! (I'm a state worker)

Lynn, I love all of those old war posters! I agree with Ellen, don't give up on getting your boys together! Ellen, did you catch what your son had? I hope you are "all better now."

Happy Sunday everyone!
