Fishingurl04 ---- Welcome to the family!  Where are you located?

Yep, they have a way of doing things "off the cuff" sometimes so my advice is "to get used to it!"  What  great luck to be able to "catch" the ceremony after all!    You are in for some interesting times ahead ... this is a great place to share/vent/laugh and cry.  There are many great sites and  a lot of information here so keep in touch!  Hugs, Linda

well.... hubby left for BC today! What a awesome and bittersweet felling.  I know he is doing this to better both of our lives, so now the countdown can begin for PIR once I get the letter :)  So far I have only had one breakdown, and that was at the swear-in ceremony at MEPS... THEY STARTED THE CEREMONY WITHOUT TELLING THE FAMILIES!! I happened to be walking pass the window and saw my hubby standing at attention, in the process of swearing in!!  My heart dropped, and I ran into the ceremony.. what a day! but as i said, have to stay positive to help this process go smoothly!

Happy Saturday everyone!! I haven't  been on the group in a while, I have been following the PIR 4/13/12 looking for any little info I can get. If you are going to get together for a lunch or packing care packages, I would love to be involved!! I am in Orlando. Oh and my name is Dawn.

Mary - Thank you so much for asking your son, I really appreciate it.  My son is currently Phase II, and working on Phase III.  I sent him a box with some snacks and a card....he was so happy he didn't know whether to eat them or save them...LOL.

@Fishingurl04  - I live in Titusville!  We were in Rockledge today on our way to Melbourne!  Glad to hear of someone close to me that has someone in or going in the Navy!  Maybe we could get together sometime!

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well..

I have a question, my son DEP was 12/29/11, he is in now at GL ATT for FC.  He is a lil homesick for homecooking, (I'm NOT surprised) LOL.  Does anyone know if I can send a small throughly frozen homecooked meal to him?  I've sent him snacks and stuff.  Also, does anyone know when they are able to travel away from the base for a weekend, he is currently phase II?

Mary- Rockledge is near cocoa beach, 45 minutes east of Orlando :)

Home from jury duty. Back again tomorrow! Hopefully, will be done. On the other hand - 3 letters today. Yeah!! Two handwritten and one questionairres. She sounds good. Passed her PFA and swim quals but is having some ankle problems. They gave her dr, scholl's for her boots. Not sure if that will help. She said the food is good or that she is to tired to notice. She said I would be proud that she is eating all of her food, lol, She doesn't eat much but does make good food choices.
She did say to be ready for a phone call next Thursday. Not sure if she means this week or next since her letters are not dated and I can't make out the postal stamp. She said most people are cool but there are some idiots that argue over dumb things. But that's life. So glad to hear from her.
