Thank you very much NavyWife2013. Today was a great day because he is having such a good time surfing! He sent us a few pictures from the beach. I don't miss him as much if he is having fun- and I am not worried about his safety. One day at a time is exactly right!

Hi everyone. I hope that you all had a nice Thanksgiving. I was thinking about all of you and appreciating the fact that my son was able to be home with us. He arrived safely in San Diego this evening and loves it already. He did hear from his Ship Sponsor a few days ago that they ARE planning to send him out to the ship. He doesn't know when, but is anxious to get out there and do his part. Of course, selfishly, I was hoping that I had more time to prepare for his first deployment. I am still not ready for the reality of it all. I cried like a baby after he left, but am doing fine now. I watched the Thanksgiving video with my family and we were impressed with all of your sailors. It looked like a great group and I think that he is headed to a wonderful experience. Tomorrow he will be surfing all day and loving every minute of being in California. He reports Monday morning and then will take it from there. This is quite an experience for a wimpy mom like me! I am so glad that I have this site so that I will be able to see when someone hears from their sailor. I think that will help a great deal!
